If you don't have a story lined up, just use this to rant about your current favorite character <3
I've got a few old wips. These were just random ideas I threw at the wall and I dunno if I'll ever get back to any of them.
This wip snippet was part of an alternate timeline and took place just before the start of LWS1. For context, in my story Aurenthir and Scarlet Briar are podtwins.
Aurenthir followed his twin within the icy cave. His sister led them to a dead end, except her hand went through the solid rock before them. The illusion wavered, revealing an entryway to Scarlet's secret room. They entered the chamber and Aurenthir took a seat as his sister walked over to a computer panel.
"So, about our new little friend," the blue Sylvari pulled up his rifle and took a cloth to the scope. "You think she's got what it takes?"
"What are your thoughts on her?" Scarlet asked, working on the panel. The monitor came alive with the overview of Tyria.
Aurenthir shrugged. "She seems a tad nervous. Or maybe she's excited," he set his rifle aside and leaned back in the chair, hands interlaced behind his head and his boots up on a metal box. "If anything, she seems very eager to please you at any cost."
Scarlet just gazed at the monitor, the screen flickering and showing coordinates of specific locations. Aurenthir watched the screen as well, his mind working quickly with the information presented.
"Lion's Arch?" he questioned.
"She'll be vital to the plan," his sister finally said. She turned to face him. "I want you to guide the Aetherblades and have them set up within Twilight Arbor. Captain Mai will set up in Lion's Arch, and we'll move on to the next step."
This next wip was part of the main timeline and took place just a little before HoT happened. It was like an in-between LWS1 and LWS2
He looked at the other Sylvari and asked, “What’s your name?”
The other Sylvari looked back at him with vibrant blue eyes. “It’s Malyck. And you?”
“Aurenthir.” the Druid replied. “Why are you out here so far in the jungle?”
Malyck took a deep breath in and exhaled slowly. He grabbed his water, sipping it before speaking. “I was looking for a tree, like the one in the Caledon forest.”
Aurenthir blinked at the lad. “In Caledon? You mean, the Pale Tree?”
Malyck nodded. “I heard there was a cave out here full of mystical seeds. I came here to search for one that might have bloomed into a great tree.” He looked up at Aurenthir, his expression suddenly brightening with his pinkish glow. “Did you awaken here?”
Aurenthir shook his head. “I awakened beneath the boughs of the Pale Tree.” He tilted his head, staring curiously at Malyck. “Why do you think a tree bloomed here?”
Malyck seemed confused. “Is.. there not a tree like the one in Caledon out here?”
“Not like the Pale Tree, no.” Aurenthir said. “Was your Dream to find another Tree out here?”
Malyck frowned, frustration setting on his face. “I was never a part of the Dream to begin with! It’s why I traveled here, to find my Tree and meet others like me!”
Aurenthir fell silent. Questions began running through his mind, and he wanted to ask every single one of them. However, seeing the other Sylvari so frustrated and so frazzled, Aurenthir held back.
“You must be exhausted from your travels, Malyck. Take a rest, we can speak in the morning.” The Druid suggested. Malyck didn’t protest. He finished his water before laying back down.
Aurenthir stared at Malyck for a moment, ever more curious. He softly sighed and got up to move across the campfire where Vernus and Vermillia laid. He joined them, nestling against the sleeping reef drake, and Vernus shifted his position to place his head on the Druid’s lap.
Sleep was usually no issue for Aurenthir, being a Sylvari who awakened during the day. His mind was active with what Malyck said, wanting to ask so many questions.
