Her expression softened slightly, though her tone remained serious. “I’m fine. I’m dealing with it, and I’ll tell you once I know anything for sure,” she paused, then muttered, “I just didn’t want you worrying about it, because I can handle it myself. And I’m not mad. Not at you, at least.”

Percy grabbed both her hands and held them in his, shaking his head. “You don’t have to worry about these things alone, I mean… I know you can handle it, but I’d like to help you with this stuff.” He smiled slightly. “Besides, we’re both responsible so I should do my part.” His grin widened a little. “I could really help with stuff, like, I can probably think of ten cool names in a day.” He felt some relief, starting to accept the idea of actually raising a baby together and even getting a little excited at the idea. “We can handle it together.”

Annabeth grimaced, shaking her head aggressively. “Okay, no. I appreciate it, Percy, but the best way you can help right now is by not…talking about it. I don’t even know for sure and even the thought of it…just. Don’t talk about baby names.”

Percy frowned a little. “You just want me to ignore it?” he asked incredulously. “I mean, if this is a thing that’s happening we should deal with it, not ignore it.”  He hesitated. “Like, when will you be sure?”

She shrugged. “A while? I don’t know, eventually. I really, really don’t want to think about it, okay? I don’t know what I’m going to do if it is happening, and you talking to me about it isn’t going to help much.” Her voice was riddled with anxiety, and she looked down at the ground.

Percy bit his lip for a bit and then cupped her face with one hand, looking into her eyes. “Annabeth.” He said softly. “It’s okay, whatever happens, it’ll be okay.” He smiled slightly, trying to look reassuring. “I won’t give you a list of baby names or anything if you don’t want me to but we probably have to think of the possibility and um, what we are going to do if its the case.” He paused for a moment, trying to gather his thoughts. “But um, we don’t have to decide anything quickly, or anything. I’m just trying to help.”

Percy smiled a little, watching her with relief as she smiled. "Yeah, we'll get through whatever happens, together." He leaned in and kissed her quickly again. "I'm glad I know, even if the finding out part didn't go, um, too smoothly." He let go of her hands. "Yeah, you probably should... I'll be here when you're done and we can hang out later, maybe."
