for a great many people, life is starting to get back to “normal” except it’s not a familiar normal, and navigating the NEW normal is stressful, it’s taxing, it takes an emotional toll and for some it might take a physical toll, it’s okay if you don’t have the mental energy to be here and write / create / be active 

isolation is terrible for mental illness, for many of us who have been on the path to recovery and healing, isolation and a MASSIVE disruption of routine just threw a wrench into that path and we’re being set back and are trying to push forward again — it can be exhausting. rp shouldn’t be one more thing to beat yourself up over.

there might be people in your life, or in your partners’ lives, whose health has been directly impacted by covid. not all of these outcomes end with recovery. for some people it’s more than just frustration and restlessness, be gentle because you never know what they’re going through

outside of covid, there are still people who have lost loved ones, and who are trying to help loved ones who have pre-existing conditions and this has made the process of getting help and assistance and grieving loss infinitely harder

the entire world as it exists right now is essentially one large anxiety trigger, every country ( and in the US, every state ) is on a different stage of recovery, but none of us know what the end is going to look like or when it will come, this anxiety isn’t normal, it’s not something your body is used to dealing with and processing, even if this has been going on for months, you’re still going to have moments where it gets to you, that’s okay. give yourself time. be gentle with yourself.

a lot of people used tumblr as a safe haven, and with the update ( as trivial as it is ) that’s ANOTHER new change and adjustment to make and for many it might just be another straw on the camel’s back, sometimes complaining about something small and trivial is a lot easier than complaining about something you have zero control over 

writing takes energy. and time. and creativity. and right now a lot of your energy might be devoted to just navigating day to day, trying to focus on self care, your loved ones, picking your life back up, preparing for whatever the future might hold, and figuring out how to process this whole experience: writing is something that comes easy to a lot of us, and not being able to do it so freely can get frustrating, but it doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong it just means you need to give yourself a little bit of a break.

people have kids, and families, and enormous life changes ( moving back from school, losing jobs, having to move in with parents, financial struggles, etc. ) going on 

If you have a lot of crazy stuff happening in your life, do not feel guilty over letting your activity drop while you deal with it.

You can post updates, sure. Your followers will appreciate knowing you haven’t vanished off the face of the earth. But none of them want you to plead for forgiveness and stress yourself out further with what’s usually self-inflicted guilt!

And anyone who expects you to rp during a hard time in your life is toxic and should be unfollowed, if not blocked, immediately. 

When the weakest one gets injured, and they all hover around them like mama hens, desperately trying to take care of them.

When the STRONGEST one gets injured, and they all flail around, trying to figure out how to take care of the one who always takes care of them.

When one character doesn’t realize they’ve been accepted into the family/think of themselves as outsides, until they get hurt and everyone takes shifts watching over them and taking care of them.

The Revenge for hurting one of their family.

Group cuddles after horrible days, where they all just pile up together in front of the couch.

One taking punishment for the whole group.

“Who did this to you?”

The recovery room being packed too tightly with people who love the whumpee and are worried.

Working together to carry the injured one.

“Why did you save me?” “That’s what family does.”

When one of them loses their voice, and the others have to try to guess what they mean.

Crying together.
