Placing a hand over your heart you steady your breathing before knocking. The sound barely carries, just loud enough to let him know someone is here but soft enough for him to know that he doesn’t need to answer. 

“Come in.” It sounded as much a plea as an order.

Opening the door for a moment you did not see Ant, his form overtaken by the lack of light and the mountain of paperwork that seemed to consume his office. 

“Sir?” You called softly, tone and footsteps cautious as you navigated the disaster zone. You had only been gone for a day, where did all of this come from? Picking your way through the stacks you finally caught sight of your boss. Head in hands, back hunched, jacket discarded, and shirt a rumpled mess. You know for a fact he had only gotten here half an hour ago so this level of dishevelment is utterly bizarre.

“Sir?” You try again, daring to reach out and grab his forearm. Pressing your thumb into the pliable metal you rub small circles into it, gradually making your way up to his wrist before carefully prying his hand off his face. Cupping his much larger hand in yours you press your thumbs into his palm. Ant’s screen is dark but you know he is looking at you, antenna twitching ever so slightly in your direction. Tiny sparks of electricity passing between them and swirling along the rings. You stay quiet, content to work out the stiffness in his fingers while you wait for him to speak. 

It did not take long. 

“Why can’t anyone do their damn job around here?” Ant’s voice came out heavily layered with static. When you first started it made you cringe, the noise unpleasant and it set your teeth on edge but you’ve grown accustomed to it. You’ve grown accustomed to many things like him picking you up and setting you on his desk before resting the heavy weight of his head in your lap. “Do you even know where all of this came from?” From experience you knew he didn’t actually want an answer, so you kept silent. Instead rubbing along what you could reach of his neck and shoulders. A fist slammed down next to you before it unceremoniously swept away a pile of papers. “It’s always something new with them. No one listens! I tell them to send the expense reports to accounting and instead they send them to me! Unfinished at that!” Another stack of papers is shoved from the desk. It’s almost comical, his head still in your lap as his arms flail about destroying expense reports, unread scripts, and employee complaints, with little regard for how important they are. 

Or at least how important some of them are. Ant was still trying to find out who created the complaint box and when they had installed it outside his office. You had your suspicions but did not voice them.

“It’s never ending! I’m the boss, I shouldn’t be looking over how the lights in studio F need replacing. Why does everything need my signature?!” You don’t tell him that everything needs his signature because he has deemed it so. You don’t tell him that he is controlling and obsessive to the point that half of the staff don’t even have proper jobs anymore. You don’t tell him that he disposed of the head of accounting and there has yet to be a replacement found. No you don’t tell him any of this instead you place an almost nonexistent kiss on the side of his head. Then another at the edge of his casing and one more against the tip of his antenna before Ant is leaning up and crowding into your space. His face flickers to life, bathing you in soft blue light. 

“Do you know how many reports I need to look over for market analysis?” Yes you do, you’ve spent many a night doing overtime going through them but he isn’t looking for an actual answer, he’s being rhetorical. Sitting up a bit straighter you press your lips against his cheek, the static from his screen makes your mouth tingle as you press more kisses along the edge of his screen. A low hum leaves him, the faint sound of crushed paper can be heard as you travel back down. Your lips hover over his for a moment before Ant is pressing forward. Molding his mouth against yours he wraps one hand around your waist while the other paws at your hip. Dragging you closer he presses his fingers into the middle of your spine making your back arch upwards and pushing you further into his chest. Winding your arms as best as you could around his shoulders you pet the back of his neck and twine a finger gently around the cables on the back of his head. Ant pushed against you harder, putting more of his weight on you. It made the muscles in your back and neck strain but it was worth the soreness to hear his soft sigh and feel him melt at your ministrations. You let out your own noise of contentment before pulling back, panting a little. He didn’t let you go far, lips still close enough to brush yours as he spoke.
