You love wearing it, and steal it at every possible opportunity. You’re the only one, aside from his dry cleaners, that’s allowed to touch it. It’s huge on you, its tails barely dragging on the floor and its sleeves covering your hands. It’s the perfect blanket.

You like running your fingers over the soft materials. He deserves something this nice, you think to yourself. Something that will hold him tight and keep him warm. You turn the coat over in your hands, your fingers tracing the huge silver star sewn onto the back. The edges of the star are rounded and gentle-looking, which you find sweet. It’s so at odds with the rest of his persona.

At first, he may pretend that you’re being silly. It’s just a coat. And he needs it back in a couple hours, so don’t wrinkle it.

But inside, it makes him happy that it brings you such comfort. And he begins to find your continued theft of it quietly endearing. It swallows you whole, much like he does when he wraps his arms around you and bundles you up in his embrace. He loves his tiny star. He loves seeing them wear his things, beaming with pride and delight as they do so.

Even if he grumbles and complains about it, he loves having to track you down and catch you so that he can get his coat back. He can’t just go out onstage in his shirt and harness, doll, you know that.

But when he does get it back, he can just barely smell your scent on it. He can imagine it wrapped around your body, keeping you safe and caressing your skin. He likes it even better when you’ve worn it, he decides.

In the late evenings, when your emotions tend to get the better of you and you begin to cry all by yourself, he’ll shrug his coat off his broad shoulders and drape it around yours. You relax into the thick fabric, putting your arms in the sleeves again and nuzzling your cheek against the collar. He wraps his arms around you and lets you sink into his body. You love nighttime cuddles—with your favorite blanket and life-sized teddy bear, no less.
