Okay, serious topic rn, Brazil is on the verge of a coup d'état. Federal highway police are blocking main highways in different places, causing traffic trying to stop people from voting on the opposition (Lula). People on the northeast are having extra trouble with the roadblocks and in some cities the public transport got the free pass suspended (there's a law that made public transport free for the election day), in other cities buses won't stop to let electors board in.
Indigenous people also facing trouble getting to the election place.
This is outrageous and absurd, pls spread the word and make this whole situation known. We've faced a coup and dictatorship before. NEVER again.
Democracy is the only way and this is a global fight.

edit2: read the tags, specially the one by @happyfairyskeleton she contextualised the reason why those are the targets and why this is worrying!
Please be careful about how you spread this information! I know it’s frustrating for those who were stopped but, if this was an attempt to keep Bolsonaro in power, it is a pretty ineffective one. Estimates say 610 buses were stopped in total. Lets round up and say each one of those had 50 people and all of those could not vote. That’s equal to 30,500 people. Lula won by less than 2%, and that’s still equal to more than 2 million votes. The operation would need to have been 65 times bigger to make a difference, and all voters got to the ballots on time. According to the Policia Rodoviária, the vehicles stopped were not in conduct with the Brazilian Transit Code. I tried to find how many vehicles are stopped by the Federal Highway Police on a usual day but I could not. To make an estimate, however, I found that one operation in a period of 8 hours stopped 811 vehicles in Cuiabá which has a population of 618,124, so if you imagine instead 100 vehicles are stopped for every 500,000 people in a day instead of 8 hours (rounding down by a factor of 18!) then 42,000 vehicles would usually be stopped daily. Far more than the 610 reported. Yes, the highway police were not supposed to be stopping buses yesterday, but it’s important to inform people how things really happened regardless of political agendas!

Well, I'm not toning down bc it happened. It could've been worse, but it wasn't bc we spread the news. End of. We don't have to be content with "oh but it wasn't that much", it shouldn't have happened in the first place and all the actions were planned beforehand by bolsonaro himself and the federal police.
It was, in fact, an attempt of a coup and an attack to democracy, the fact that we managed to cut it short and not let them act in ill intended ways is a win but also not a reason to say "oh it's agenda, it wasn't that bad". It was. And tbh, if you say I have an agenda, yes I do, with democracy. I didn't come up with numbers or said anything other than the reality, so maybe you should check your priorities and the way you want to be "reasonable". I'm not flexible with citizen rights, I know how bad we fought for gaining rights to vote, specially women, so don't expect me to stand still, silent or soften the way they DID interfere with people's access to vote. not ONE person should've had trouble, let alone AT LEAST 610 busses, idc who they vote for, they have the right to and that's END OF.
edit: we don't actually have the number of ppl who simply didn't vote bc of that, I know what Alexandre said but many indigenous ppl had to go back to their homes bc there weren't busses who would take them, so yeah, we need further investigation as what Alexandre said was actually in the heat of the moment and an attempt to not damage the image of our elections any further. He acted in a diplomatic way, trying to avoid more chaos.

You don’t need to tone anything down if you don’t want to. I just feel like people should have every information available. Just like you said, Alexandre has stated that no votes were stopped and that Vasques stated all approaches followed the traffic code. To be more specific, they approached those that had things like flat tires and broken headlights. The PRF also says a 43% decrease in deaths and 72% decrease in injuries during traffic accidents can be attributed their increased security efforts when compared to the first election round. I didn’t find anything regarding the indigenous people who couldn’t vote except mentions on the website “Boato ou Fato” from the justiça eleitoral saying the allegations are fake. I do believe, however, that the lack of indigenous access to transportation, health and education is a HUGE problem. Attributing their lack of access to public buses to the supposed coup seems like a minimization of the problem. I also didn’t find anything about Bolsonaro himself instructing the PRF. I don’t like him, but political polarization is not the answer and it’s making us all less informed. I support your commitment to democracy and I recommend the video Change My Mind by Guto Zacarias. I like that he doesn’t support the idealization of any politician while being a politician himself.
ps. I didn’t mean to be rude, I know you’re just trying to make people aware of how scary politics can be in Brazil sometimes and I think there are plenty of things bad enough that we don’t have to resort to sensationalism. Sometimes it’s hard to stay quiet when there are 30 different headlines saying we almost had a coup. The numbers on my previous post were supposed to give some context to the magnitude of the situation, not to undermine it.
Mais de 600 ônibus foram abordados pela Polícia Rodoviária Federal, mais que o dobro do primeiro turno.
