I think a lot about that post talking about how generally "person" doesn't fit well as a gender neutral version of boy/girl ("am I a good girl? ^^" v "am I a good boy? ^^" v "am I a good person...")

Like 9/10 I think struggling to use non gendered language is a skill issue (especially if you default to masculine terms) but this is a case I deal with a lot in the case of like animal people.

terms like doggirl and catboy and buggirl and stuff don't really have good nongendered equivalents. dogperson just doesn't feel right in the same way. "Kid" is a literal nongendered version of boy/girl but "dogkid" does sound like it's specifically referring to a child whereas doggirl and dogboy don't fully carry the same connotation

My evil advisor uses "nyanbinary" as the nonbinary equivalent to catgirl/catboy and I think I'm just trying to chase that beautiful standard
