a lot less people are aware of political issues than you think. most people know the absolute bare minimum i.e. "there's a situation where people are dying and it should stop" and have no idea about the nuances of the situation. by talking about the situation more u get people to understand not only the topic of the issue but the deep rooted causes, which leads to better solutions with more support

2. people know about things but people dont Care about things. people don't take action. by continuing to talk about it again and again it helps people remember that this is Not going away which can make them realize oh shit this is a bigger issue that can't be solved in a couple months, we need to do something about it

3. specifically on palestine, it is genuinely alarming and appalling how much of the media censors palestinian voices and conflates antisemitism with zionism. like everyone who has an opinion always says "my views are getting censored" but genuinely on all sides of the aisle you can barely say the word palestine without getting put on a list. tash has talked about how hard it is for her to be pro palestine and so many people have lost jobs etc for their support of it. by normalizing it amongst ourselves we show the people in charge that they cannot take away our voices

4. celebrities have the gift of a platform. they shouldn't be expected to be perfect by any means, but the thing is that society is bigger than us all and our entertainment. no matter what, we exist in the context of social rules/systematic constraints. using your platform and the influence that u have to make people's lives better is . like . the whole point. like our options are point and laugh and consume in silence or come together and make a difference
