Justice always came prepared, but Solo knew who she was. They were cut from similar cloths, so he knew that once Justice got her hands on somebody, there was no turning back. So when Solo go between them, it was a relief. She hadnât come here to fight, and there were plenty other bars around town. âIâm not tryna fight, Solo, so you better let that bitch know Iâm not the one, cuz these hands are equal opportunity,â Justice said calmly, her accent thickening as she began to let the streets show in her body language and in her tone.Â
Her words mustâve triggered the girl, because she did the stupidest thing imaginableâshe stepped from behind Solo and swung. It was like everything was going in slow motion, all she had to do was move her head back and the girlâs fist whistled past her face. After narrowing her eyes at Solo (sheâd end up cursing him out before the night was over), she turned to the girl and her first darted out to pop her right in the mouth. It probably wasnât the best idea for anybody to ever try Justice like thatâ she drew blood on the first hit.
Playing ref was one thing, but getting caught in the crossfires of two angry women was not what Solo was willing to do. As soon as he saw the other woman swing at Justice, he took a long step backwards, hands up in defeat. It was on. For a moment he considered putting his new powers to use and calming them down, but then he remembered that would have required him to make physical contact, which was easier said than done. Fuck that, he thought. Part of him wanted to break it up, but there was another small voice in his brain that wanted to see how this would play out. As calm as he was, he quietly lived for drama. As long as it was not his own. He wondered if this situation could be considered his own, since he was accompanying Justice.Â
Soloâs wondering ceased the moment he saw blood. âOh shit!â he exclaimed and rushed to Justiceâs side and lifted the lithe young woman off the ground. âNah-uh, Iâm not gonna let you get in trouble for this. Youâll thank me later, girl.â Solo tried his best to carry Justice outside the bar and far away from the other woman.Â

itâs not that sam is overly sensitive about sleeping in new places, heâs just not good at it. he can do it just fine, given the right circumstances, but lately finding good dreams is like hunting for them in a field filled with nightmares. normal nights are getting more and more scarce while the terrors are getting worseânot that sam can say anything to anyone about it. heâs a guy, and despite his dramatic nature, he still has too much pride to really divulge secrets about his psyche like that. he doesnât want the others to worry about him or think heâs a freak, any more than they already do.
but itâs hard to hide away when heâs thrashing around in his bed, images of destruction and war in his head; solo losing his mind in process of reading everyone elseâs, des becoming the sun and blinding everyone who looks at him, nola driving everyone insane with horrific illusions, and imogen rearranging the very fabric of the whole planet around them. he can feel his atoms disassociating and heâs screaming, screaming, screaming. he is nothing, he is no one, he has no defense and no offenseânothing but the searing void to stare into, grasping at the edges of time.
Even without Samâs nightmares, Solo was having trouble sleeping. He had just discovered that he could absorb the emotions of dreams. Unfortunately. Though, thankfully, Sam was far enough across the screened-in porch that his emissions werenât too strong. Something was wrong with Sam. Solo had simply chalked it up to it being one of Samâs (recently frequent) nightmares, but then the screaming happened.Â
Solo was just about to shut his eyes and fall into a sleep when Samâs voiced jolted him upright in his makeshift bed. âWhat the fuck.â He said below his breath and reached for a nearby lamp to turn it on. All he saw was Sam writhing where he slept, and Des rolling over in his sleep. Solo stood up to help, but was immediately hit with a wave of whatever Sam was feeling, and was knocked back as an incredible fear took over his body and hurt like hell. Trying hard to keep his composure, Solo made his way across the room, stepping around Des, to place his hands on Samâs arm. âMate!â he shouted, attempting to reach his friend over his screams. âSam! Wake up!â While making contact, Solo tried his best to create some type of positive energy to transfer to his terrorized friend.Â

[ PARANOIA ROUND ONE ] @dxne-aries
After hearing Soloâs question she paused, thinking on it for just a few seconds before loudly proclaiming. âItâs gotta be Dane.â
Sum was a bit of a mystery to him, as he knows her around campusâthrough chit-chatting from others, yet never really went up and spoke. So naturally his curiosity over his own paranoia took over, âI have to admit, itâs early in the game but Iâll give.â he smiled shoot his drink.Â
@solobyduality
Sumâs reply sent Solo rolling with laughter. It takes a moment for him to collect himself enough to reveal his question without giggling. âDane, mate, youâve got some explaining to do. Sum here thinks that you would have the craziest fetish out of all of us here.â

Kelly nodded slowly. She didnât really think about the fact that sheâd be in the same house with him for so long. Meaning if she truly wanted to, she could procrastinate this conversation for a later time. Like a time when she wasnât about to shove her face with pizza. âHave you been around this area before? I grew up likeâŚtwo hours from here. My mom took my brothers and I here every summer.â She explained. She didnât know a lot about Solo, and it was simply because she didnât think their minds were aligned. If Kelly James had learned anything from this magic experience, it was that stuff like that was minimally important. She was attracted to him, beyond any logical reasons. She wanted to figure out why.
He could have said yes and made up some grand story about spending his breaks from school with his parents--maybe a few siblings--on the pier as a child. He could have told Kelly about how he can still remember the taste of the popsicles they used to sell at a vendor near the shore, and how if you stood in the right spot, and looked at the perfect moment, the lighthouse appeared to be piercing the setting sun. Perhaps that would intrigue her, keep her attention for more than a few moments. But then he would be lying. âThat must have been nice,â he said. A moment had passed and shook he head at her question, which still hung about in the air. âIâve never been about an hour outside of London. Except for Durham, of course. This is my first proper holiday.â
Solo was handed his pizza by one of the guys behind the counter. An empty table in the back corner of the shop caught his eye, and he gesture to Kelly, inviting her to it. âYou want to join me? Iâd like to hear a little more about this place from a seasoned expert.â

People could be so fuckinâ aggravating. Probably why Justice got into trouble so often. This one was fair though. Somebody had started hitting on her. It wasnât as though she was entertaining the person but their significant other, well, sheâd come out of the bathroom livid. All bark and not nearly enough bite for Justiceâs taste. And then she put her finger in Justiceâs faceâ just a psa, thatâs never a good idea. She stood slowly, immediately wrapping the trusty band around her wrist, around her braids. âGet your hand out of my face,â she said calmly. It was difficult to tell what would happen when she got like this. As of right now? She was ready, hands balled at her sides as the girl reached out for her. On god, if she touched herâ @solobyduality
One minute Solo was nursing a terrible overpriced drink, and the next he found himself looking across the bar to find Justice in a quarrel with another woman. âBollocks,â he said beneath his breath and handed his drink to a girl--who, despite hovering near him for most of the night, had gone largely unnoticed by Solo until this moment--and made a B-line to his mate. He was accustomed to this type of behavior with Justice--leave her alone for two minutes and more than likely youâll come back to her with some poor girlâs ponytail wrapped in her fist. It wasnât her fault she was so testy and people, more often than not, underestimated her.Â
Solo wedged himself between the two ladies, facing Justice. He knew better than to try to constrain her at this moment, but the least he could do was try to talk her out of causing a scene. Who knows... maybe the group would need to come back to that bar during their trip. âOi, come on,â he said. âSânot worth it, Justice. Letâs just go.âÂ

Vera thought for a moment about how she could lighten up the situation. It was obvious that she had probably had a little bit too much to drink as she held her hand over her head, âLightbulb! I know just what secret to tell you.â She leaned in and held up her hand to keep the rest of the group from hearing as she whispered to Solo, âThe best secret I have is that putting a couple of crushed up peppermints in hot cocoa makes it ten times better.â She sat back in her seat and held a finger up to him, âBut, you canât tell anybody. Itâs our little secret.â
Solo corrected his posture as she whispered to him, unsure of what she was about to say. His lips formed a smile as she revealed her secret to him--her sweet, charismatic nature was not lost on him, but much appreciated. This was why he adored her so, because she had a way of calming him like no other. Even with his new powers. Solo grabbed Veraâs finger as she gestured playfully and said, âYour secret is safe with me.âÂ
veraharper:
âOh, do I?â She asked, wondering what about her appearance seemed so secretive. Her whiskey-hazy mind wandered to that quote from Mean Girls, her hair is so big, itâs full of secrets. âI might have one or two. What kind of secrets are you lookinâ for? I might just tell you one.â
âIiiii... donât know.â Solo chuckled, as he was beginning to feel a bit nervous. To save himself from buckling, Solo didnât dare look to the rest of the circle to see if anyone was watching them. âYouâre just very private and quiet. At least to me you are.âÂ

the joke had grown stale after the first three times they and solo circled the house scouting for a way in. âsâlike reverse ding dong ditching,â nola had slurred. when their knocking went unanswered, the pair decided to take matters into their own hands. they looked under potted plants and decorative stones and door mats, drunkenly hollered outside every door and window, and even looked up a lock-picking tutorial. via text, their friends claimed to have opened the front door, but found no one outside. âbullshit,â was what nola muttered as they pounded on (what they and solo believed to be) said door. why the fuck wouldnât they just let them in?
desperate times called for desperate measures. head slightly tilted, mind swimming in vodka-induced thoughts, nola proposed, âdâyou wanna try to crack a window? like, crack crack, with a rock or somethinâ.â
It was hard to imagine that this wasnât some type of prank the group was playing on the two of them. This whole game had gone from being amusing, to annoying, and now Solo was just plumb angry. Solo looked at Nola in surprise as they came up with a final solution. A rock? â--canât imagine how pissed theyâd be if we broke a window.â he murmured while trying his best to come up with a solution, however, his soggy brain was down for the count. He pictured the two of them smashing through a window and the types of look they would receive from their friends. The thought made him laugh.Â
âWe gotta... right?â he questioned, though the answer was clear. Solo picked up a heavy rock from the pretty landscaping and tossed it like an amateur shotput through a window next to the door, so he could reach his arm through and unlock the doorknob from the inside. Heâd seen this technique on a television show once. Solo stepped back to take a look at his work, grinning like a madman with the excitement and terror of his plan actually working. He turned to Nola and gestured to the house. âAfter you.âÂ

Kelly was already nervous about hanging out with everyone in public. Her eyes drifted around, taking the effect away from her smile. She was happy, but Kelly had trouble being her usual dominant self around so many personalities. The pizza place was quaint, it reminded her of the type of joint that her father would take their family out to. She felt bad about leaving them back in Durham, but she really needed this trip. She placed her hand on the table in an attempt to grab her drink and ended up brushing a hand.Â
She looked up swiftly, making eye contact with Solo. If her complexion was different, you would be able to see her blushing. âSorry Solo.â She said quickly, the alliteration felt funny on her tongue. She couldnât help but laugh. âHavenât seen you since our dance party at the beach.â She added.Â
Leave it to Solo to find the one place to get a decent slice in Brighton as soon as he could break away from the group. Solo made smalltalk with the guys behind the counter as he waited for his pizza. Having spent the majority if his life in bustling cities, he often romanticized small townâs like Brighton. The sea being so close only made his fantasies that much more vibrant. Though the group had only been here for a short amount of time, from what he saw of the town, it was living up to his expectations. And if the pizza were good, too... he very well may not have traveled back to Durham.Â
Solo was brought back down to earth as someone made contact with him. His face lit up when he saw those familiar dark eyes. âFancy seeing you here.â He said. Fancy seeing you here? If Soloâs brain had a face of its own, it would have grimaced. She already thought he was something of a weirdo, and it was dorky phrases like that that could only have made it worse. âYeah,â he smiled. âWell... weâll be seeing a lot of each other this week, you know. Sâpractically mandatory with the way Imogenâs set it up.âÂ
veraharper:
After spending 90% of the game completely focused on other things, Veraâs name had come up twice in a span of twenty minutes. Although she was certain that Solo wouldnât mention her if it was something bad, she was still nervous as she reached for her shot glass, quickly tipping it back and swallowing with a cough. âDefinitely Vera, what now?âÂ
âYou look like the type of person who has a lot of secrets,â Solo said as he took a sip of his drinkâan attempt to level the playing field. âSo? Is the assumption correct?â
PARANOIA: ROUND TWO
Imogenâs voice played in his ear like thoughts that have rolled around in his brainspace multiple times before this trip. Solo asked himself questions about his friends often, but heâd never been prompted to act on them until now. His attention zeroed in on @veraharper. âVera.â He smiled. âDefinitely Vera.âÂ

by this point, sam has had 3 shots straight, on an empty stomach in a room filled with everyone heâd rather didnât see him drunk, but when jude leans over and asks his question, sam just bursts into a fit of giggles, using his hands to cover his face. âoh my god, um, shit, ummmm,â he pauses, forcing himself to focus on the answer, starts biting his fingernail and staring, wide-eyed, around the table. he takes a breath. âsolo, my main man, iâm sorry. if i gotta be in pain, you gotta be in pain,â he cracks up laughing but then covers his mouth real quick. âoh shit, was i not supposed to say anything about it?â
Heâd been perfectly content sitting within the circle and absorbing the action going on around him: laughing as others did, oooing and awwing in unison, learning of the different dynamics he had never noticed before as they popped before his wide eyes. Truth be told, he did not expect for his name to be called. Solo fancied himself something of a shadow, an observer, certainly not a participant until he was summoned into the game via Samâs voice. His friendâs mirth was contagious. âOh lord,â he laughed. âSuppose Iâd better find out then.â
@eltoromagicoâ
PARANOIA: ROUND ONE
Solo hides behind his red cup. Dark eyes scan the faces of his peers, studying them deeply. This isnât the time to be diplomatic, nor is it the point of the game. âKelly,â he says with certainty.Â
