DIVINE GHOST

it had been a quiet day at the barn. peridot had run to help the crystal gems with yet another piece of old gem tech, prodding pink to go with her, to which she agreed. the two seemed to be hitting it off well, but she couldn’t say the same for her and lapis. it was early, though, she kept telling herself. from what peridot told her, the gem had been through a lot. and, so, when she flew away, blue didn’t attempt to stop her, simply retreated back into the barn, shrunken down to fit.

the diamond seemed to have a bad habit of touching things, so curious of this world and unable to restrain herself. the barn was filled with odd things, some of them the so tastelessly named meep morps, others dusty boxes full of random things. she leaned down, looking at a half opened box of strange containers. they were thin and square shaped, reading MR. UNIVERSE in large letters across the front and side. she began to open the box, head tilted as she moved one of the cardboard flaps. during her search, however, her elbow bumped a table covered in some of peridot’s alien stickers, the needle of the record player atop it shaking onto the record, startling her.

her shadow cast over the strange device, now playing music in a way she couldn’t really figure out. atop the box, just below the needle, was a disc of some sort spinning, but before she had a chance to stop it, she noticed the tune of the music. what came over her, she couldn’t tell, but she began to sway, eyes closing as she listened to the voice sing.

she didn’t understand most of the music she’d heard while on this planet, most of them about breaking up, money, or some other thing she couldn’t relate, but something about this song drew her in, and so, moving more into the center of the room, she began to dance, eyes closed, but smiling all the while.
