Kaavaillut korotukset terveydenhuollon asiakasmaksuihin ja uusien maksujen käyttöönotto ovat eduskunnan apulaisoikeusasiamies Susanna Lindroos-Hovinheimon mukaan ongelmallisia. Lindroos-Hovinheimo on antanut sosiaali- ja terveysministeriölle lausunnon terveydenhuollon asiakasmaksuja koskevasta luonnoksesta hallituksen esitykseksi. Lausunnon mukaan asiakasmaksuja on korotettu merkittävästi viime vuosina ja muutoksia on tehty ilman riittävää kokonaisarviointia yhteisvaikutuksista. Muutokset voivat apulaisoikeusasiamiehen mukaan vaikuttaa esimerkiksi siten, että hoitoon ei hakeuduta kustannussyistä.
