because you can't wrap anything in a cracker

Deciding that I wanted to foray into the world of gymbro munchies, but not wanting to spend a lot of money on the project, I selected these chips from the Aldi's snack aisle.

The Pros

Price: At 2.99 USD per bag, and with four servings offering 9g of protein each, this comes in about 8 cents per gram of protein. This is about 30% cheaper than the 11-12 cents per gram of protein you would be paying for its brand competitor, Quest.

Eating experience: The flavor is about what you would expect for a nacho chip, if a bit less impactful than, say, Doritos. The texture was especially interesting to me, someone who has never eaten a puffed chip or a protein chip before. It was like eating a pork rind in the shape of a tortilla chip. Overall I would give it an 8/10.

Dietary restrictions: This chip is vegan, gluten-free, and OU kosher certified.

The Cons

Portion size: 28 grams. Twenty-eight big ones. It's not a lot. In fact, it's just enough to get you hungry and ready to eat more by the time you finish the pile. This is not a solo snack.

For comparison, Quest chips are about the same in portion size (32 grams) with anywhere between 18-20g of protein per serving, depending on which flavor you choose.

Protein quality: pea protein isn't the lowest quality protein on the market, but it's not the highest either. You might consider this a fair trade-off if you're avoiding whey for any reason. These chips also contain lentil flour and rice protein
