Interesting. Ekal hadn’t expected this. There were prisoners sure, but none that were anywhere near this attractive. It’d be a shame to send this one off to slave labor like the other. “Cut them loose. They can’t run here.” @serenabinx
“You have strawberries here?” Luca asked, licking his lips.
“Yes. They’re in season. We get them from the market.” Ekal confirmed. “Do you like strawberries?”
“I really like strawberries,” Luca said, licking his lips. “But I haven’t had them since starting Basic.”
Luca blushed even darker and grinned as he averted his gaze. “Not today, no.”
“C'mere. I’ll vhisper it to you.”
Kurt shrugged and hopped down to get the bread. “I vouldn’t knov. I’ve never vent grocery shopping other than for snacks. I like avacado on toast. So I imagine this is similar.”
“It’s like if butter and an avocado had an oily baby,” Luca tried to explain.
Kurt laughed, putting the bread in the toaster. “That just sounds vierd, but I’m sure it’s lovely.”
“It’s better than no butter at all,” Luca said with a chuckle as he grabbed a couple plates and tipped separated the eggs between them, starting on the turkey bacon.
“Hov toasty do you vant your slice?” Kurt asked. He relaxed, waiting. “It’s so cozy here.”
“Yeah, I’m sure,” Luca chuckled. “Compared to the mansion you live in. This place feel really empty while Mama’s at work.”
“There’s alvays someone at the school avake. Days are rarely quiet there. If I didn’t have my ovn room I vould get overvhelmed. This vith just you and me I like very much. Our home environments are such opposites.”
Luca smiled. “It still sounds like fun. There’s always someone you can talk to if you need it. People who have had similar experiences you have. People who understand what you’re going through.” He looked over at Kurt with a smile. “But this is good too. It’s good to have the company. It’s like a happy medium.”
“People alvays in your business vhether you like it or not. They mean vell I guess. You I’ll never tire of though.”
Luca blushed and turned his attention back to the strips of meat as he cooked them. “You say that like you know the future. I’m sure you’ll find some bad habit of mine that you’ll find irritating.”
“…Everyone’s got bad habits Luca. I’m hoping the gute out ways the bad. Glass half full kinda guy.”
“I hope so too,” Luca said as he flipped the turkey bacon, transferring the cooked pieces to the plates as the toast popped out of the toaster. “I don’t think I’ve been with anyone that makes me feel as good as you make me feel, you know? You’re a genuinely good person.”
Kurt nods. “It’s so easy to talk to you. I’m hardly ever this comfortable around someone nev.” Kurt said as he put the avacado spread on the toast.
Luca smiled as he finished up the turkey bacon and put them next to the scrambled eggs on each of the plates. “Could you grab the juice?” Luca asked. “I’ll take this to the dining room.”
“Ja, no problem.” Kurt nodded, grabbing the cups and orange juice. He hummed softly as he followed Lucas into the dining room.
Luca carried the two breakfast plates to the small dining room table and looked up to Kurt with a smile. “Do you have to go back soon?” he asked softly. “Does your school get closed for inclimate weather?”
“It does. Not all our teachers live at the school. So some of them wouldn’t be able to make it in this veather.” Kurt told him. “Don’t vorry. I already checked in vith my school’s director. He told me to stay safe. ”
Luca grinned. “So we have the place to ourselves until mama gets back from work.” He pushed Kurt’s plate to him and poured himself a glass of juice. “What do you usually do on a snow day?”
“Vell I like going out to play in snov, but I have fur. So most people get tired of the cold before I do. Video games and board games are also fun if you have any of those.”
“I have a couple video games,” Luca said. “I had to sneak them past Mama, though.”
“Your mutter is pretty strict, huh? Vhat games do you have? Any ve can play together?”
“Well, I have a couple handheld games, but they’re single-player,” Luca explained. “But I have my computer that I use for school. I have a few games on that. I think at least one is multiplayer, I think.”
“Vell if prefer to play together but if you like the handheld better ve can take turns. I’m already happy just being able to spend the day with you.”
“We could play after breakfast, then.” Luca blushed and smiled before starting to eat.

“Thank you.” He really did just want some company. Whatever Luca was willing to provide; Ekal was content. He strips off his shirt as well and pulls the covers over them both. “Sleep well Luca.”
“Sleep well, Ekal,” Luca said as he rolled away from him and closed his eyes.
Ekal slept, though he did shift a bit in his sleep. Seeing as he was a rather tall long-limbed man it was pretty much guaranteed he’d end up wrapped around Luca in some way.
Luca didn’t sleep well, though he had never slept well since he was sent to the front. He felt the limb drape over him and it woke him. He had heard horror stories about the prisoners who had been taken into the homes of the enemy. He had hoped he would never be picked, but here he was.
Now that he was here. Now that he had talked with the man and was assured that nothing untoward would happen to him… He was surprisingly comforted by the innocent unintended contact. He slowly fell into a deep sleep, his usual stress-filled dreams calmed into a more tolerable level that let him rest fully for the first time in over a year.
This was the most Ekal did throughout the night. He’d meant what he’d said about not forcing anything sexual upon the smaller male. In the morning he wakes but he doesn’t get up. Its so nice having someone else in the bed and sharing body heat. A few extra minutes won’t hurt.
Luca was so calm in sleep. He looked so relaxed, maybe even content. As he slept, the smaller younger man wasn’t the same nervous prisoner that Ekal had met in his tent.
Then, as if some silent alarm sounded, Luca woke with a sharp gasp and a short curse as he rolled out of bed and desperately looked for his fatigues. “I’m late. I’m late. Fuck, not again,” he panted in sleep-addled panic
Ekal blinked blearily and crawled over to the edge of the bed to see Luca scrambling around. “What exactly are you late for little one? We don’t need to go anywhere just yet. Come back to bed.”
Luca looked up at Ekal in confusion, then around at the room before he nodded and walked back to sit on the bed next to him. “Sorry… old habits… Thought I was… late to roll call,” he panted as he tried to calm down again. He laid back down on his back and closed his eyes as he forced himself to take long, deep breaths. He held his hand over his heart pounding in his chest, trying to will it to slow back down.
Ekal hand was halfway to soothingly run his fingers through Luca’s hair but he stopped and drew his hand back, changing his mind. He didn’t want to startle Luca. “Routine is hard to shake Luca. Its alright. You’ll settle eventually. Now that we’re both awake though would you like some breakfast?”
Luca opened his eyes to look up at Ekal when he spoke again. He nodded as he digested his words. This was a new place. He spent an entire year waking up frantically for roll call. It was going to take some time to adjust to a much more relaxed schedule.
At the mention of breakfast, he sat up again. “I should probably eat, yeah,” he said softly, though he wasn’t particularly hungry just yet.
“Probably? You don’t have to eat now. I mostly just want the company. If you like we can save some breakfast for you for a bit later.” Ekal offered. “Then after breakfast we’ll go do some errands.”
“No, it’s fine,” Luca insisted. “I can eat. Better to eat before you’re hungry, right?”
“C'mere. I’ll vhisper it to you.”
Kurt shrugged and hopped down to get the bread. “I vouldn’t knov. I’ve never vent grocery shopping other than for snacks. I like avacado on toast. So I imagine this is similar.”

Luca didn’t sleep well, though he had never slept well since he was sent to the front. He felt the limb drape over him and it woke him. He had heard horror stories about the prisoners who had been taken into the homes of the enemy. He had hoped he would never be picked, but here he was.
Now that he was here. Now that he had talked with the man and was assured that nothing untoward would happen to him... He was surprisingly comforted by the innocent unintended contact. He slowly fell into a deep sleep, his usual stress-filled dreams calmed into a more tolerable level that let him rest fully for the first time in over a year.
