BIO
the first lesson sofi ever learned was that you had to take care of your family. she wasn't that old when her parents began to leave her home with her younger siblings, and as a result, she thinks of herself just as much as their mom as their actual mother was. she couldn't resent them for this, even now - although they were never quite poor, there was never enough money for food, rent, utilities, and school supplies. someone was always wearing a size too small or skipping a meal, and normally, that person was sofi. an entrepreneurial child, she started a neighborhood babysitting ring at 12 (although it was less babysitter's club and more tony soprano) and has worked ever since. work has never been something to be ashamed of to sofi. she liked to have nice things, to rely on only herself. nothing is less attractive than incompetence. or impotence.
the second lesson sofi ever learned was that you had to take power where you could find it. she was an astute child, and realized quickly that very little of the traditional power would ever be hers. she didn't have the requisite proximity to money, whiteness, maleness. what she did have was a pretty face, and she's never been shy about using it when helpful. first in school, when she found she could round up a clique of sycophants, then at work, when she found out you get better treatment for wearing a tiara than wearing an apron. while not exactly a mean girl, she took pleasure in dominating the social scene of her high school, because when all you had to look forward to after high school was a minimum wage job, why not enjoy being queen bee? of course she had ambitions, but college was never in the picture for her, nor was moving, so she took what she could get at a certain major theme park employer. the pay was shit and the hours were bad and it kinda blew to be in constant proximity to families having the best day of their lives when your family was turning off the breakers at night to save on the power bill, but...
the third lesson sofi ever learned was that you had to take your kicks where you could get them. clubbing until the early hours of the morning, putting the wig on a few hours later to take pictures with runny-nosed children, going to the boxing gym a few hours after that - everything in sofi's life was go go go, adrenaline rush to dopamine hit.
the lessons still serve her, after she took a weekend catering gig in prissy cedar grove only to get stuck there forever. or the foreseeable future. or whatever they're saying now. she still takes care of her family, even though they're all dead, she guesses. she can't think about that too hard, or her stomach begins to cramp and her vision starts to spin, so she just doesn't, and takes care of the other survivors in cedar grove instead. she covets power now in different ways, desperately wants to be a leader, desperately wants to be respected. and she gets her kicks where she can.
sofi is hollow at this point, and she is itching to kill some fucking zombies.
