that's one thing that i think is cool about yellowjackets.

what's prompting me to say this is me trying to explain my take on the hallucination version of jackie being antler queen theory, and it made me fall down a rabbit hole of comparing the characters to who i think their counterparts would be in the christian mythology.

before i get into the religious ranting, lmao, the basis of the jackie being antler queen theory is the fact that the antler queen is a symbol meant to represent the girls’ descent into madness and when does shit start to hit the fan causing everyone to start to spiral? jackie’s death.

so, onto the religious rambling, we all know the story about how lucifer was cast out of heaven by god, right?

well, for this to apply to yellowjackets, let’s look at who the counterparts are:

god - shauna

lucifer - jackie

heaven - the cabin

hell - the wilderness

now at the time of jackie’s death, shauna wasn’t power hungry and obsessed with being the leader of the girls, but that progression in her arc starts as the show progresses.

jackie is the ‘fallen angel’ much like lucifer was in the bible - lucifer’s name being ‘morningstar’ means light-bearer, bringer of dawn, etc., and jackie is known for being the shining light in the darkness that surrounds the girls in the wilderness.

in the bible, lucifer is expelled from heaven by god because he rebelled against him by trying to become a god himself, and something similar happens with jackie and shauna - jackie desperately tries to cling onto her leadership role and is betrayed by shauna and cast out of the cabin and into the wilderness.

the other characters in the show also have some type of religious counterpart (in my opinion):

lottie, natalie, and misty can represent the three archangels gabriel, michael, and raphael.

lottie represents gabriel - the prophet of god

natalie represents michael - the warrior of god

misty represents raphael - god’s healer

lottie is known as the prophet of the wilderness due to her hallucinations and being so in tune with it, the wilderness uses her as a means to speak.

natalie is definitely the protector of the group, she and travis go off to find javi at the end of season one and into season two, and part of where nat’s leadership is weakest is the fact that she tries to protect everyone.

another way that natalie can represent michael is in the bible, michael is the archangel who battles with lucifer to repel him, and while nat and jackie never duked it out, there is a scene in the original script where nat and travis are coming back from looking for javi where nat sees jackie in the snow and looks at her with nothing but hate.

misty would be raphael, because she’s the one with the most medical knowledge. every time there is an injury to the girls, or even in the pilot when she chops off coach ben’s leg, she’s the one who is used as the healer of the group.

now back to hallucination jackie being antler queen, lucifer is often depicted as a man with a goat head, and while we don’t really know what the antler queen looks like other than just a figure with antlers, i think the way the antler queen looks is close enough to a depiction of lucifer that it wouldn’t be seen as a ripoff of sorts.
