Dirk sat outside the school
building a helicopter. His hands moving insinctivly.
Why did he think that earlier. About Rose and licking her blood from the head of John’s hamner form.
That thought hadn’t been his? Had it?
It did sound appealing to a degree. Metaphorically. But otherwise not as…
Dave didn’t expect for his fight to go so badly. All participants had ended up in bad shape. Though, Dave knows he’s the only one who won’t wait for himself to heal. He knows when to stop, He just won’t do it. He constantly walks around the school, trying to exercise his healing leg.
He did use crutches though, since he sort of couldn’t move without them. the cast was extremely uneven, and the itches! Dear lord, The itches were hell. He groaned softly as he walked out of the academy. Stairs were a bitch too. Since stairs is what combines DWMA to the rest of this goddamn town.
He didn’t expect to see his little Bro standing by a wall though, looking rather torn up. From their previous conversation, Dave feels a bit over protective of Dirk. He limped over and placed a hand onto Dirk’s shoulder. “Dirk, What’s wrong?” Â
Dirk jumped wiping his fist against his jeans. “Yeah. Just. ….tired.” he said nodding. Tired Hell. He felt awful and like he was choking.
Could he tell Dave? Would Dave be mad at him? For getting hurt? That’s why he hadn’t told bro. Afraid bro would he disappointed in him. Would Dave be mad? Would Dave try to fight him for it.
"Dave…can I talk to you? And you promise not to tell bro?"
Dave raised a brow but knew better than to push Dirk into speaking. “Well alright..” He said softly, stepping closer to his little bro before stumbling on his cast. He grumbled a bit before continuing forward.
He then perked up when he asked the question. “Yeah dude, what’s up? I promise I won’t tell Bro Jack shit. It’ll be like the youngest brother’s secret. Just tell me dude, i’m literally falling apart in the most unironic way right now and it’s killing me bro. I’m going to die.
He rolled his eyes,”I went out Saturday and…met this thing…they threw darts at me and it buried under my skin and it hasn’t left. I’m scared and paranoid and having nightmares. I didn’t even fight her I didn’t have any weapons so I ran and she still caught me. I’m scared to tell bro in case he’d be disappointed. I didn’t want to tell you for similar reason and Dave please. I went to redglare but she didn’t say much. What if I end up like her?” He took a deep breath,”Dave. I keep having thoughts. But they aren’t fully mine.”
Dave’s eyes widened slightly at the small rant Dirk gave. And he thought he talked too much but he can tell Dirk is in a crisis. He pulled Dirk in for a tender embrace and rubbed at his back. “Dirk, hey.” He started, voice soft in a hushed tone. “Don’t be scared. I would never be disappointed in you. You’re my little bro, dude and I love you.” He pulled back and looked down at him with a small smile. “And I get that your probably terrified of the thoughts you’re talking about. Maybe you’re crazy, maybe it’s…whoever this girl is…but I know you Dirk. You’re a strong man, both physically and mentally. You shouldn’t be like this. I mean, It’s okay to break down, I swear it is, and don’t be afraid to but I know that you are great and you can stand back up against whatever is happening. Fight against it, don’t let it overcome you. You’re a Strider but You aren’t just any old Strider. You’re not just Dirk Strider, a young man with the brightest future and the potential to move a mountain.”
Dirk nodded hugging Dave back, his frame shaking slightly from unshed tears and in general pent up emotions over this. "What if it turns out to not be ok?"
He rubbed his back more and kissed the top of Dirk’s head. “It’ll be alright. I have faith in you. You’re so strong.” He cradled Dirk. “I’m so proud of you.” He muttered, keeping him close. He bent down a little to do so.
Dirk nodded,”Dave what if I hurt you or bro or anyone because of this?”
Dave thought for a moment. ” I don’t care if you hurt me, I know it’s not you who’s doing it. Besides, I’ll be fine. I know your weak spots.”He chuckled and poked Dirk’s side.
Dirk dodged the finger offering the most tense some seen. He looked like Hell. Hell, his mind was in shambles. And while he was active in fighting and great at it his thoughts and intelligence was one thing he could always control. Until now. Now he was scared and he couldn’t focus, and Dave saying that, as nice as it was, was very uneasy. Sure, Its easy to say that now. But what if Dirk did act on these violent thoughts? Would they still be true?
Dave noticed Dirk dodged his finger and raised a brow. He sighed a bit and pulled Dirk in for another hug. “It’s okay little bro.” He muttered to the nerves going through Dirk’s head. He wanted to soothe Dirk’s thoughts without actually knowing what was going on. “You’ll be fine.”
Dirk sighed and relented,"If you're sure, then I guess things will be fine." He.said.and moved away from him,"Just don't tell.bro, he may know but he shouldn't need to worry over nothing."
