The sound of his doorbell pierced his thoughts, his decision teetering between getting up and answering or just sitting, abandoning whoever was at the door. It was most likely one of his friends, who he hadn’t contacted since right after Juliet left him. As they were probably getting worried and Landon didn’t want them bothering him multiple times, he pushed his body from the ground, clutching the girl’s shirt in one hand still. His steps wavered, as he hadn’t done much walking in the past few days, and his toned muscles cramped from sitting in the same position for long periods of time. Since the breakup he hadn’t cried. He wanted to cry, as it seemed like the right thing to do. He should cry, because he lost someone important to him. But he just couldn’t find the tears to release. Instead, dark circles took under his eyes, his chocolate hues turned a dark shade, almost to match the pupil. As he fumbled with the knob, he opened the door, only to see a retreating back. But it was familiar enough to him. “Juliet?” His voice was feeble from being unused, so he tried again after clearing his throat. “Juliet?” He didn’t know what would happen if she turned to face him. Would he rather see the face of a girl who’d moved on, or a broken one?
