wanted to do smth fun for all of my asoiaf oc mutuals and thought this was a cool idea! much thanks to @idanthrene and @robnikmeria for their help with the questions (and for giving me the courage to post!)

AU: LIGHTING MY RUIN!

Elspeth Hightower is the only daughter of Hobert Hightower and his lady wife, Lynesse of House Kidwell. She has grown up with the sole purpose of tormenting her brother Ormund to his wits' end, despite her being nearly a decade or so (nine years) junior. Being her parents' o ly daughter, Lady Lynesse saw to it that her daughter got the finest of gowns and rings and jewels. While Elspeth pretended to admire herself in jewellery, her attentio was always elsewhere. She had all but mastered the craft of crafting elaborate stories through the most mundane of things, whether that even be the rings that adorned her finger. Or at times, she would be found lost in her head, much to her family’s chagrin.

Appointed as a lady-in-waiting to her cousin Alicent's daughter, Helaena's retinue, Elspeth doesn't expect to take the responsibilities of her duty that seriously, and prefer her own little solitude in the infamous Red Keep, writing her little escapades of Ser Gwayne the Quack. But when King Viserys dies, and her cousin suddenly puts Aegon Targaryen on the Throne, declaring war, Elspeth finds herself at a crossroad: will stories merely help while history is being written by the gods at the very second? Is this what Ormund had tried to warn her about?
