i'm ranya (she/they), you can call me sister. 21. agender, aroace, fem-presenting. french/slovenian living on the luxembourg border. i speak a lot of languages but i only post in english/french/mandarin.

i'm a night shift nursing assistant. i like studying scripture, reading/writing non-fiction/sci-fi horror, dancing, sewing, listening to poppy, playing otome games, and making new accounts to spite the tumblr staff.

the main things:

the church: i'm a member of the church of jesus christ of latter-day saints. i was bic, my parents were bic, my grandparents were otc. 3 generations of mormons, 0 generations of mental stability. if you hate religious people, do us both a favour and don't follow. if it came down to it, i'd choose being a better latter-day saint over being a better landmine any day. treat me like a landmineblr traitor if you want, just don't have unrealistic expectations for me.

the subculture: i've been a part of the landmine subculture since i was 15. i'm both a lifestyle and fashion landmine. it's a comfort thing. i'd consider myself a monochrome landmine.

the brain (i didn't know what else to name this): i'm professionally diagnosed with asd, stpd, ppd, and bpd. i spent years cycling through psych wards and doctors, but i recently quit therapy and i'm off my meds. i cannot guarantee i'll be fully rational or respectable at all times. block me when i become too much.

thank you for the asks then, moot! religion is a deeply personal thing. i think that, even if your journey ultimately leads you to realise you don't truly believe in anything and you identify as an atheist or agnostic, it's still worth exploring as much as you can and branching out from time to time to see what resonates most with you. to me, it's an exploration of the soul first and foremost. i don't think you can fully understand yourself until you have some understanding of where you stand spiritually. that's why i think it's such a wonderful thing that you've allowed yourself to do exactly that. trying different beliefs and learning about traditions you never knew before can only help you discover the path that feels right to you and that you'll be happy to walk for the rest of this life.

personally, i can see how the holy trinity ties into the other beliefs you described. it follows the idea that the holy spirit dwells within and gives life to all of god's creations, even the unconscious ones. it's a beautiful way of seeing the world because it teaches you to find value even in the smallest things. it encourages you to respect the things that others so often overlook! i think that's a very christlike outlook to have.

even if practices such as witchcraft or sorcery aren't compatible with christianity, that doesn't mean every value or insight you've gained throughout your spiritual journey has to be discarded. if you no longer identify with those beliefs, you can still carry forward the truths, virtues, and lessons that genuinely shaped you into a better person, and that you grew up to appreciate in our apostles. i think that's perfectly natural. any value that brings you closer to kindness, compassion, humility, or love is worth holding onto. after all, many christian values are simply fundamental human virtues, and countless people live by them without even realising it.

i have been raised in an atheist, but overall supportive household, and i have never really been bothered to fully learn about any religions until recently. my father grew up christian, but never actually believed in the faith itself. when prompted to, he’d explain to me some parts of the The Bible.

apart from what he had told me, i never had much knowledge on any other religions. i’m very interested in the beliefs of others, and in understanding how our world works. i believe there are gods, but i’m not always so certain on the extent of my personal beliefs. and your posts are always very informative and intriguing to me.

thank you moot. it truly means a lot to know that i don't spend so much time writing and editing my posts for nothing, and that people actually care enough to read them. i love ranting about these things because, once you start exploring one aspect of this religion, you inevitably end up discovering so many more. latter-day saint theology is so deeply interconnected and thoughtfully structured that you can ask 1000s of questions and still find that there are answers waiting to be explored.

there are so many specificities within our theology that sometimes i have to delete entire paragraphs i've written because i've gone too far into detail or wandered into too many side topics at once lol. i always try to stay on track when answering asks, but if only you guys could see how often i start going on a completely unrelated tangent before catching myself...

i also think it was really kind of your father to remain willing to engage with you about it, even if he wasn't personally a believer. sometimes all religion arouses in people is mild curiosity that can be satiated in a mere few conversations, and that's perfectly fine. religion is meant to bring similar people together, and even without shared faith, it can still create some meaningful connections.

i hope you'll find the answers you're looking for and feel reassured by how much room there is for curiosity and exploration when you allow yourself to engage with things openly rather than constantly questioning everything. i hope you continue embracing your natural curiosity and learn as much as you desire, so that you can find a faith that supports your journey in this life and whatever you believe may come after it.
