Charlie Morningstar is a fantastic protagonist
it truly boggles my mind that charlie gets so much criticism. Theres a lot to criticize about the Hellaverse, even if i love it, but Charlie is honestly such an interesting lead and tbh a lot of what people say they don't like about her are traits that they like in the male characters. She is extremely willfully ignorant to actual problems that are more gray and complex.
Yeah charlie is a massive hypocrite, can be pretty selfish, doesn't listen to people, is pushy and overbearing and inconsiderate a lot of the time.
Those same traits are what people love in Alastor, Lucifer, Vox etc.
She's NOT perfect. She has a ton of power and influence and privilege and you can see how that makes her very inconsiderate. She IS spoiled. She doesn't want to use and acknowledge her immense power but she also uses it every day without acknowledging it. Ep 3 of season 2 was incredible, I love how Angel told her that saying sorry doesn't matter if you keep doing bad things. I love how it showed her strange morals about dressing appropriately and how actually disrespectful it was. I love how she is so caught up in what SHE wants she doesn't realize how much she is hurting everyone.
I love that she becomes so fixated on proving that she is right and proving that she is "good" that she stops actually being good.
She has an undeniably good heart but her extremely sheltered and privileged upbringing make her so wilfully ignorant to the harm she causes.
giving the main character, especially the main female character, actual bad flaws is so refreshing. I appreciate that they dont sugar coat it or make big excuses for it, they actually show how harmful her actions are.
more complex female characters!!!!
Generative AI is pissing me off so much lately because regardless of the ethical issues with it, it also makes stuff so much more time consuming and complicated
Google has become so hard to use, to find information you have to sift through so much more word slop. It might as well be Lorem Ipsum for the value it adds. At this point I've started using REDDIT of all places for actual answers.
Emailing people at work has gotten ridiculous because people will take their one sentence response to your question, toss it into ChatGPT and send back 3 paragraphs of just meaningless text where you have to dig for your answer, if it even includes the answer. Half the time I have to email back that they still didn't answer my one straightforward question. I don't want to read 5 paragraphs about the company policies that are so overwritten they're incoherent, my question was just can i get approval to do something, and I was emailing to ask because the company policies SAY to email to ask to do it. Sending back slop isn't an answer.
I miss when executives would literally send "Yah thats fine. "Sent from my iOS""
Now they put your email into chatgpt, or use copilot or whatever and auto-generate a response that somehow does not include a response.
Coworkers use it to generate things for projects we're doing together and I have to figure out how to politely be like "this is contradictory, the sources are made up, this is unusable nothingness"
Its just so annoying how i feel like it's making stuff actively harder AND making us dumber AND ruining the planet.
I'm very pro completely aro/ace alastor
but also alastor being demisexual/demiromantic exclusively for vox fills me with glee cause how embarrassing would it be for him if he's never been into anyone ever and then finds himself attracted to f-cking VOX of all people.
It would be like if you never felt attraction in your life and then you find yourself attracted exclusively to elon musk
Can't wait to see the future tiktok edits of this clip
with clips of Vox with chains on him from a deal he will inevitably make in the future to rebuild his power

Since the only true funny hear me outs I see are always male, I submit my all female hear me outs:
Rewatching Arcane and remembering how much i love the amount of storytelling that happens through just showing the way the characters are living.
Hextech can and should be making mobility aids, it's pretty ridiculous that in this magic, steampunk world Viktors legbrace, cane, and backbrace aren't enhanced with hextech. Especially the legbrace, there HAS to be a way to make a hextech legbrace that makes it easier for him to walk and run. Probably even would have stopped his mobility and health from getting so much worse over time.
Jayce and Viktor are constantly talking about using Hextech to help people but instead are forced by their funders to basically create amazon same day shipping. Whenever they try to push for things to make peoples lives better they're told to wait longer, but the stuff that makes the council money gets pushed through rapidly. They keep doing what they're asked so hopefully they can do what they want but it never actually happens.
It really stands out at the beginning of season 2 when Salo fucking painfully thunks down the stairs in the wheelchair.
First of all, it shows how accessibililty is not at all on the councils mind, but also how the hell are there not hextech hoverchairs. Salo is one of the richest and most powerful people in piltover. They have FLYING SHIPS THAT CAN TELEPORT, hoverchairs are so doable. But of course the funding isn't for that.
We know it's possible because ZAUN has shimmer enhanced prosthetics and limb enhancements.
Even Vi's gloves are limb enhancements. And again, the gloves were originally designed to help workers but they were told to wait like a decade, up until the council realized they could be used as weapons, then they seemed just fine to have them ready to go.
I will never be mad at Jayce for kicking Heimerdinger off the council. Knowing that Viktor probably wouldn't be dying if they had been allowed to use hextech to help people from the beginning. Viktor was right when he said Jayce would understand him using shimmer, Jayce would agree to whatever it took to keep him alive. They tried doing things the right way but then they were out of time.
Hextech could have been making advances in healthcare and not let Viktors lungs get to where they got. Jayce and Viktor are stronger than me cause I woulda crashed out and become a villain very early.
I wanted to add cause I was thinking about arcane again. I think one of its greatest strengths is that there is no perfect answer to the problem.
Jayce COULDN'T rebel against the council and still invent hextech devices that help people.
The last time Jayce tried to not follow the rules and invent without getting approval from the council they tried to DEPORT him. They took away his belongings, expelled him from school, and tried to force him out of the city/country.
I feel like in discussions about the show I don't see it brought up enough how when we first meet Jayce he very narrowly escapes deportation. His mom basically has to plead insanity to have his sentence be just house arrest.
If Jayce and Viktor had tried to secretly distribute their inventions to Zaun or continue without the council's approval, even if it did work, they would have absolutely been caught. Jayce would have been deported, and I'm guessing they would have been even harsher to anyone from Zaun who was involved.
Also their inventions cost money, a huge part of the plot is that they basically have to get funding to even create anything cause they need a high tech lab for what they're doing.
Jayce is playing along with their rules because he has already found out what happens when he goes against them.
It's good they are not completely altruistic, I love that Jayce and Viktor ARE both a bit selfish in their motivations. I do believe they really wanted to help people but also, Jayce wants to invent things without being deported, and Viktor doesn't want to die. They're not selfless perfect people who are doing things with no regard for themselves. Jayce will choose to protect the people he cares about over strangers, Viktor will do sketchy stuff to stay alive. That doesn't make them bad people, that makes them human.
On Heimerdinger,
I understand why Jayce kicked Heimerdinger out of the council but I also understand why heimerdinger was trying to stop the hextech stuff from going too fast. This is what I mean by there being no easy answer. (My main beef with heimerdinger is that he is not very understanding of the situation, he's coming from a very privileged perspective and he is basically stonewalling them when they are trying to explain that waiting a decade might be easy for an immortal like him but that's a long time for someone with deteriorating health) I don't think heimerdinger is a bad person just kinda ignorant in his privilege. Like even if he was right about hextech not being the answer he could have decided to use his own power to help find other options to help people. Also he let some of the hextech stuff be pushed through fast (the things that would bring profit) even if he disapproved, but then he hard vetos the stuff that can help people. I know he's also under pressure from the council but still.
The show is so good, there is genuinely no perfect answer for how the characters could have handled it all.
Alastor and Angel passing by each other in the vee tower during season 2
I have a weird TADC theory that is almost definitely not true but it keeps bouncing around my head so I want to record it on the .01% chance I guessed right
What if Pomni isn't a human.
What if Pomni is something like a safety control measure that was installed in the program and activated when Caine and the world was starting to get unstable.
We have confirmation their character designs are based on their "mind files" the others are super obvious what trauma they symbolize, except Pomni. Pomni is also the only one of the main cast that is Circus themed (I guess Kaufmo was too, but idk this stood out to me)
Her role often to be the voice of reason, calming things down, making sure people don't abstract.
Even though she is the main character we oddly know the least about her trauma/backstory. Like she worked at a supermarket and explored abandoned buildings but that feels like something a coder would just type up as a basic backstory. In the trauma torture scenes in ep 8 everyone got something related to their human lives/trauma relating to their human experiences.
Pomni just got Gummigoo, who was part of the circus. Like he was attacking her but there was nothing about her own self as much. Why doesn't Caine have anything from Pomni's human mind files to pull out to torture her? Gummigoo's story effecting Pomni so much would also make so much sense if she ALSO wasn't a real person.
I also think in this case neither Pomni or Caine would know. Caine clearly isn't all knowing. I'd fully believe he wouldn't realize the new thing he didn't create wasn't human, and just assume she was.
Idk it would be an interesting way to explore why Pomni was so impacted by gummigoo and the ncps and how they are questioning their existence as just lines of code.
It would also create a moral dilemma of shutting down the circus to escape would kill pomni.
Anyways this is almost definitely not gonna be the twist, I know there's a lot of evidence she IS a human, and the more likely reason she doesn't have as much trauma and backstory is she's more of the audience insert character. But still I keep thinking about it.
I loved Golden but OMG that winning over I lied to you is crazy.
Golden is a super great fun song but I LIED TO YOU?!?! HIS VOICE?!?! Like I BELIEVED that song and his voice brought spirits of the past and future.

I knew the Vees seemed familiar
The funniest possible thing they could do next season is redeem Rooster either completely offscreen or just in the background.
Like just literally as the rest of the plot is happening you can just kinda see him in the background suddenly floating up in a cloud of light.
No one knows how or why he was redeemed.
The angels don't notice a new sinner in heaven either, the only time we see him is as a background character in some of the scenes in heaven.
The fact that Vox is in love with Alastor is actually really incomprehensible when you think about it from the perspective of the rest of Hell. I know Alastor is regarded within the fandom as a Tumblr Sexyman, but everything we have seen of him from the viewpoint of other Sinners in the show is he is definitely NOT appealing.
As a human, yes. But as a demon most people do not find him particularly funny....
Or charming....
Or tolerable....
The general consensus we have seen from Sinners is he's probably smelly and his hair looks greasy/ugly.
Compare that with Vox and the Vees who are sex icons in Hell. Their faces are their brand and their appeal is what makes them so popular.
Vox was voted the hottest sinner in Hell. (I guess it's canon now).
You basically have Hell's richest eligible bachelor enamored with a stinky cannibal in a torn coat who eats rotting roadkill.
It really makes me want to see more flashbacks of the two of them and how they met so I can even begin to fathom how Alastor accidentally seduced the TVMan.
This is so funny
After a life of having to be charming and likeable to get anything he wants, now that he's in hell Alastor loves creeping people out and having the general population find him disturbing and avoid doing things like touching him or trying to befriend him
But somehow everything he does seems to be a fetish for one specific guy
Unstoppable force (Alastor's creepy off putting vibes) meets immovable object (Vox's fetish for anything Alastor related)
Vox's perpective on Alastor is actually so funny
Like you have this guy, he's your best friend, you hang out all the time (you're secretly in love with him), when you offer a partnership he BRUTALLY mocks you for wanting to have a team and friends
Then like 70 years later he joins the most sappy "friendship is magic" group of people ever, and teams up with the princess of hell who is known to be all about friendship and feelings and helping each other and working together to be better.
And Vox doesn't know Alastor was forced to do it or that he's spent the whole time insulting the hotel. From his perspective Alastor has joined this lovey dovey crew because he AGREES with it.
And then when you almost succeed in taking over heaven, this asshole, who again, mocked you for wanting friends and not just doing things alone, defeats you by singing a song about THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP AND JOINING TOGETHER with LITERALLY EVERYONE WHO IS NOT YOU, INCLUDING YOUR CURRENT LOVER AND BESTIE WHO HE TURNED AGAINST YOU
Like he doesn't know Alastor made a second deal with Rosie and wanted his staff fixed and also wanted to save himself, like Vox just sees Alastor partnering up with every other person they know
I'm not saying vox was good or right but imagine being insulted for wanting friends and then being defeated by the same guy through the power of friendship.
(btw I see people calling Al's hypocrisy with this and the stuff with the touching etc. bad writing. I actually think it's really good interesting character writing, Alastor is pretty intentionally written as a hypocrite in a way that they seem to be calling attention to, and there's a lot of info Vox doesn't know. The things he insults vox about are pretty consistently things he also does.)
Anyone who finds love in hell
Can do anything baby
You and me don't need no one else
To make it through the crazy
No blow comes close to fatal for this princess and fallen angel
We already found love in hell
The rest is easy baby
Vox did find love in hell but unfortunately he found one-sided love with a sadistic psychopath so it hasn't been "easy"

It would be so funny if Alastor in season 3 is stressing because he feels indebted to Emily for saving his life.
He still hates angels, has no personal affection or real gratitude for her, but he is a polite gentleman and cannot ignore his good manners.
He keeps trying to do her favours to square his debt, and Emily just thinks he is being nice because he genuinely is trying for redemption, and she keeps doing more things for him and being genuinely kind (in his eyes INCREASING his debt).
Charlie is overjoyed because she thinks alastor is really trying to be a good person and make friends with emily (alastor is feeling more insane by the hour and is close to blowing up the entire pride ring himself, he has never felt his psyche so close to shattering).
Sera is incredibly distressed over emily's new "friendship" and becomes increasingly more distressed the more she learns about alastor
Kinda like this one scene in the office where andy keeps doing dwight favours because he has a compulsive need to be polite and not owe dwight anything except Emily has no malicious intentions she's just confused but being kind for the sake of being kind.
Alastor: "Hello my dear, what a lovely day, I had seen that you hold gift baskets in a high regard so I thought you would enjoy one of your own! I have curated it specifically to your tastes"
Emily: "Wow Alastor thank you so much! I'm also happy I ran into you, I figured out a way to use my angelic powers to make your staff unbreakable, now you never have to worry about it snapping again" 😇
Alastor on the brink of psychosis and through gritted teeth: "...thank you...darling...how very...considerate"
Alastor thinks Emily is a master manipulator and he is being bested at his own game
Emily thinks she has a new friend
Charlie thinks the hotel is working
Sera just learned about the ongoing cannibalism and is crashing out
This tweet
Made me think of this:
To understand himself better Alastor goes to an ace forum or meetup and the other people there are Mammon, Via and Striker, all individually horrified by the other members of their community.
LMAO all the Ace characters in the hellaverse are so different from each other it's so funny.
Get poor Via away from these freaks
Via: "My dad left and I am lonely, maybe I can find community and friendship with people who are like me"
Via later: "This is why I can never feel hope"
