Working Title: Oracle
I disappeared into a forest yesterday.
I left my shoes at the edge of the clearing.
The earth under my feet reminded me what connection felt like
a vibration so subtle, a heart beat pulse,
its faint but it’s there. its a wave of calm
that feels like what used to be called ‘home’ never did.
It’s quiet, so warm, I think I’ll let the grass grow over my body.
Ants could bury me in this peace,
I’ll never hear the sound of ice falling off tree branches or feel hard hands digging me out of my foxhole to shake me awake, remind me what a house felt like
A loud banging, wood nailed together, sweat laden brow, attempts to show the world this is what a home looks like, does this look like a house to you?
I won’t put the shoes on again.
