Skylar was finally visiting Ryder, after almost 3 weeks of not seeing each other. To say that Ryder was disappointed to be away for so long would be an understatement. But, he was glad they got to spend the day together, doing nothing but enjoying themselves and falling asleep together in Ryder's apartment.
Ryder suddenly woke up in the middle of the night. He glanced over and saw Skylar sleeping peacefully. Happiness radiated inside him as he looked over at his girlfriend. It was almost 2 years ago when he finally woke up and realized that Skylar was the one he loved the most, the one that he wasn't able to live without. Things were not perfect, not by a long shot, but Ryder was happy.
Skylar rolled over in her sleep and now Ryder could faintly see her face. He reached out to brush some of her strawberry hair off her cheek. Though he often made fun of her hair and worried for their future children souls, he quite liked it.
Wait, future children. Ryder rolled over and got out of bed. He went to his dresser and opened the bottom drawer. There, underneath his pants was a ring that he'd purchased earlier in the week. Ryder hadn't given it to Skylar today, because he couldn't seem to find the perfect moment. Skylar was...Skylar and he knew that she deserved something worthy of royalty for a proposal. But really, all Ryder wanted to do was marry her. Sure, he was only 21, but he'd never been so sure. It felt that everything in his life, everything that molded him, led him to Skylar, the one person who could honestly read his mind and often knew him better than he knew himself.
Holding the ring, he went over to his bed and gently touched the side of Skylar's face. "Babe?" he said, quietly. "Skylar?" he said again, louder this time. "Skylar, why aren't we married yet?" Ryder asked as he went to cup the side of her face, waking her up. "Why aren't we married again?"
Skylar was blissfully unaware of the fingers brushing through her hair. Her mind was deeply under the foggy haze of unconsciousness. For the last three weeks, and even before that, she'd been moving nonstop. Between her shooting schedule, interviews, ADR, and trying desperately to keep in touch with Ryder and be a decent girlfriend (something she honestly thought she was failing at because of all of the previously aforementioned) she had found herself exhausted, but of course, Skylar being Skylar would never admit that. So, finally, after a day of no travel, no work, and simply being with the man she'd been craving to be in the arms of, the strawberry blonde was the most relaxed and at peace that she had been in what felt like forever and truth be told the only time she even relaxed at all was when she was with Ryder.
His everything was calm from the storm that no one else gave, which seemed laughable because she always seemed to frustrate him, but he knew what he was signing up for when he agreed to be in a relationship with her. He knew who she was, how she was, and everything being with her brought to the table. He saw her for who she was, flaws and all, and still loved her, and for that, she was incredibly grateful because she would simply be unhappy without him. He was everything to her, and that fact, she would admit to anyone who would listen.
But, back to the matter at hand, Within Skylar's sleep-induced haze, she could hear mumbles of the voice of the man she loved. It sounded as if she was underwater and couldn't hear any of the words clearly, but they were there trying to arouse her from sleep. More clearly, she felt a hand cup the side of her face, this time actually stirring her, and she snuggled deeper into the blankets beneath but it was too late now, Skylar, was awake and let out a blarely audible whiney groan only half listening to the question that was being asked.
"I don't...Again? What?..." Confusion painted her face as she looked up at her boyfriend, clearly love in her eyes but also a quiet pouting from being woken up. "What are we talking about?"
