which blake is a slytherin & which is a gryffindor?
grounded. okay people will likely fight me on this & obviously my opinion is not the end all-be all of hogwarts houses & you can read a character however you like etc. etc. BUT my opinion is that octavia is a gryffindor while bellamy is a slytherin.
octavia is a gryffindor for a number of reasons, but the main thing that sets her apart from where i would put her as slytherin is her determination to do what’s right. this, again, isn’t saying that slytherins can’t do the right thing, but octavia has a KEEN sense of justice throughout the show and it’s important to remember that her goals are almost never self-centered?? like she’s ambitious, sure, but she would abandon it all for her friends & what she believes, in the end, is the right thing to do
okay, bellamy is harder. bellamy is a slytherin, in my opinion, because everything he does that would be considered brave or selfless is to save the people he cares about. it’s never to save the general public or masses – it’s not really ever about justice ( except in the case of charlotte maybe?? but even then it’s very iffy ). he fights to go into mount weather to save HIS FRIENDS rather than the rest of the ark survivors. for bellamy it’s always about HIM & who matters most in HIS life, even if he doesn’t admit it. you also have to remember his self-centered goals during season one, where he strips all the 100 of their bracelets so that the arc never comes down to attack him, subsequently putting his own needs above the 100 ( before he gets to really make friends there ) and the ark people. there’s also the bit with the radio. i think bellamy, while genuinely caring about others, still remains wholeheartedly self-centered. that word kid of has a negative connotation – but i mean in a sense of: he’d sacrifice himself for his closest friends, but not for a cause or justice & such.
i also tend to think about hp verses in terms of: if they were in the hp universe what would they be sorted into. so like – clarke may very well be a slytherin by the end of season 2, but the ultimatums she was faced with to change her so drastically were things she would NOT BE FACING IN THE HP UNIVERSE, which also is part of my reasoning for putting bellamy in slytherin, because he only becomes brave and resilient as a result of the terrain.
