Landlord update: They're getting really pissed off and becoming quite nasty
Yesterday the landlord's contractors came and cut down our "OUR HOMES ARE WORTH A FIGHT" banner from under the old rail bridge that runs next to the estate. We told them as they were doing it that it isn't the landlord's property and they don't have a legal right to do it, but they just did it anyway. They were smirking the whole time the way that men do to comfort each other emotionally when they know they're doing something that is clearly in the wrong.
I told them that I know they know what they're doing is wrong and the scale of the crisis they've created for vulnerable people is despicable, that I've had to work nonstop the last 3 months to help everyone here and haven't been able to do my own job. The head builder replied "you've never worked a day in your life". Lovely guy.
After more neighbours gathered to yell at them they all started saying they're just doing a job. I should probably be clear here that as well as cutting down protest banners, some of the contractors are living on site and have been intimidating residents as well as hand delivering eviction notices. The time for any argument that they're "just the workers" has long since passed. They may try and cut the banner down again today, but I don't think they want a repeat of the scene they caused yesterday. They know the neighbourhood hates them.
