Peter and Bucky are having a play date. Daddy Steve is looking out for them, with one ear and one eye always on them. Whenever he hears an argument starting, he heads to Bucky’s room. But, more often than not, the boys solve it before Steve can intervene.

“Daddy? Can Peter stay the night? Pretty please?”

“Bucky, you know sleepovers have to be arranged ahead of time. So, I’m afraid Peter’s gonna get picked up like we agreed. His Daddies are missing him, I’m sure.”

“Dada, up!”

Daddy Tony agrees, thinking that Peter is playing games with him. But, stuffies aren’t heavy, not even when you have half a dozen. So, Peter tries something else.

“Dada, up!”

This time, Peter has a bunch of Duplo lego creation in his arms. Daddy Tony can still carry him just fine. Gotta try something else.

“Dada, up!”

This time, Peter has found the biggest and heaviest book in his little bookshelf in his room. It’s a geography book for Littles. And this time, Tony grunts a little when picking up Peter. The boy gasps a little, looking giddy at this discovery.

On the forth try, Peter has dragged one of his toy boxes to Tony. This time, Daddy picks up just the boy, much to Peter’s disapproval.

“I know what you’re trying.” Tony chuckles, patting Peter’s padded bum. “You’re trying to see how strong I am, hm? How much can I carry? You’re like a little scientist, baby.” He muses, nosing at Peter’s temple. The boy giggles and leans into his Daddy for cuddles.

Little Peter got a service dog for his anxiety a year ago, and life has become so much easier. It took a while for the dog, Bella, to get to know Peter and his Daddies, but now they work as a perfect team.

Whenever Peter becomes anxious, Bella will first try to sooth the Little. If that does not work, she will go get Daddies. Stephen and Tony have had to get used to Bella jumping up on them, and sometimes even barking.

“Okay, Bella, okay. I’ll be right there. Go back to Peter. Good girl.”

A minute or so later, Daddies arrive to find Peter on the floor, shaking a little and sniffling. Bella is laying right next to him, letting the Little pet her fur.

“What’s up, baby?”

“What-what if Bel-la has to go…” So, this time Peter is anxious about Bella leaving him.

“Oh, baby. Bella isn’t going anywhere. She’s your dog, and she’s here to help you. She’s part of the family. She isn’t going anywhere. Here, let’s pet her together.”

“S-she likes to have her ears stroked.”

“Hmm, you would know, hm? She’s your dog, after all. She’s got very soft ears.”

“My Bella.”
