And then they’ll always say tales of the abyss is the best story-wise. The only good thing abyss has is gameplay! It boasts a weirdly weak cast and the worst main character you’ll ever see. Luke was only good in the beginning when he was mean. Then, when he becomes emo, he becomes very annoying and hateable because the way it happened had nothing to do in particular to his character prior! He had no idea what was gonna happen for real! We see him at the beginning being rude and irresponsible, but the Akzeriuth thing did not highlight any of these aspects you’d think would lead to him changing. It was Van manipulating Luke for years until that specific point which finally somehow led to him wanting to change! Huh?!??? What??? How?! It wasn’t even his fault! What was even the point of showing us such a cartoonish image of a rich spoiled brat for that long if it wasn’t even gonna matter?! Who thought this was a good idea?! Luke stans eat it up, but it makes zero sense! I miss rude Luke! It was so sloppy! And then the rest of the cast was so weirdly mean about it to him! He didn’t know! Wtf?! Like, I guess it was to drive the point about Luke being a bad person, but that was actually Van’s fault and they never treat him as such.

It’s so try hard! And we have at least 3 characters keeping secrets from us, the players. There’s too much going on! They should have just made Tear the main character instead and cut some others. What do the rest matter in, essentially, a story about a sister hunting her vengeful brother. Did she really need a love interest in Luke of all people??? I dunno, it just went everywhere I never really imagined. I played this when I was, like, 10-12. I was young, but I was still analyzing because that’s what I like to do. I actually do like Anise and Jade individually a lot though. They were pretty fun to me. Jade is pretty ridiculous though, but I liked Anise’s personal struggle as the classic traitor of the party. It’s a lot of pressure for a 13 year old girl. But, shhhh 🤫, because grown-ass male ‘Tales of’ fans hate her guts, and I’m not supposed to like her or something. At least her “gold-digger” antics make sense to her personal struggle, but whatever.

This topic is, like, a yearly thing for me because something will remind of it, and I can never find people who think the same as me about it, and it drives me up the wall. My siblings have to hear me rant. Nearly every comment is about how awesome Luke’s transformation is, and, uhhh, no, it’s not lol. Despite all that, I have fond memories of tales of the Abyss. Specifically the gameplay. I actually like the fields of fonon thing because it goes well with multiplayer, and I like couch co-op a lot. My younger sister and I liked to set each other up this way. Fun stuff. If they ever remake it I hope it keep that feature, but I also hope they keep multiplayer. This is one of the few games I went above and beyond to collect almost every secret thing and whatnot. Even when one of my files got corrupted I started all over again.

We were close yesterday. But it turns out we need, like, a 5mm eyepiece because the ones the telescope came with aren’t enough. We saw the moon tho. It was awesome. The most we could get out of Jupiter was a very blurry brown. No definition. Just that brownish color if you focused it a certain way with the 10mm eyepiece. Otherwise it was that weird glow-y white dot all throughout.
