Figure of an Elephant

Chinese, 1736–1795

Porcelain, 21 3/4 × 13 7/16 × 10 in.

This large, cumbersome elephant is relatively rare. The Chinese modeler transformed the huge animal into a fanciful creature seated in an improbable upright pose with flowers painted on its ears.
