“Fictives aren’t their source!”

Except for ours, who genuinely view their source as just their lives before they got here and are hauntingly source accurate and do not want to be separated from their source, or literally can’t be. As in it causes them existential crises to try and distance themselves from their memories and life.

Just ask, please. It’s not that hard.

It's like this for some of us, but not all which makes this generalization an even bigger mine field because if you don't ask, and only assume based off what you know about maybe another alter, you're going to heavily upset someone.

For instance, our edd fictive is extremely attached to our tabby cat appropriately named Ringo. That cat IS Ringo. That is his cat and nothing/no one can tell him otherwise. Part of it is rooted in delusion, which being snapped out of can be extremely distressing as it's our brain's way of coping.
