* you waited until yams was almost passed you before you started forwards again, easily keeping pace with him despite the difference in their strides. the snow crunched audibly under your feet, and you found yourself kicking at it playfullyâ looking down at your feet for a long moment while you listened to yams talk about his brother.
* at the mention of âcatching humansâ, frisk suddenly remembered what toriel had warned them about prior to their confrontation before the door to the underground and their steps faltered for a moment; a look of unease passed over your face before it quickly disappeared at yams reassurance that his brother wasnât really all that dangerous despite his desire to capture humans and take their SOULs.
* you were starting to regret leaving the ruins. a lot.
* you found that your hands were trembling, though whether that was from the cold or because you were still a bit scared by the otherâs comment, you werenât entirely sure.
* at yams question, your head jerked up to look at him againâ tilting your head to the side in thought before you raised one hand and tilted it side to side in a vague gesture that could be taken to mean âsomewhatâ, because wellâŚ
* you were, kind of. there wasnât really anything that resembled true winter where they were from, so you werenât used to the chill as much as others.
* looking back at the path in front of you, you suddenly came to a stop as the two of you reached a snowdrift that had covered the small path with a deep layer of fresh powder. taking a careful step into it, you were surprised when it sunk into the snow up past your knee.
* you stepped back again, shaking your leg to rid your pants of the clinging patches of snow; frowning.
* being short had itâs drawbacks.
Snow didnât really affect monsters too much. As a skeleton, you felt chilled to the bone most times, but you figured that was pretty normal and thatâs why you dressed up in your thick jacket, even if the rest of you wasnât covered as heavily. The logic was pretty sideways, but you knew you best, and this was just how it was. You could crunch around in the snow all day without freezing yourself stiff.
Humans, however, had to be different. They were used to temperatures above ground, not ones stuck between solid mountain rock. You understood easy why they were a bit cold.
When the two of you stopped just before a snow bank, you watched on with a bit of a snicker-- it was cute, but you didnât want to laugh at them. Compared to other monsters, you were a pretty short guy, but this little one was even tinier.
âhere,â Stepping behind them, you crouched to slip your hands under their arms-- âone, two, three, up!â -- and lifted them above your head to set them on your shoulders. âhold on to my head so you donât fall, okay? iâll keep you safe.â
It dawned on you after youâd picked them up that they might be scared of heights, or they might be scared of you, but the last thing you wanted was to make them uncomfortable. They were your new friend, and hopefully they could think of you the same way too.
The two of you continued forward through the snow bank, yourself being extra careful to keep your balance with the added weight (albeit small) on your shoulders. âwhen we get to snowdin, i can show you lots of cool stuff. thereâs a shop, an inn, a library, oh, and my favourite place to eat, grillbyâs. lots to see there. itâs a bit of a walk from here though.â
You wanted to ask them a ton of questions, but there wasnât any way you both could communicate what with the snow being under your feet and their arm being too small to reach it, obviously. You pondered for a moment before you came up with something clever.
âah! i know. letâs play a game. iâll give you some options or yes or no questions and you can answer by waving one of your hands where i can see it, okay?â Your smile brightened, thinking it a pretty smart idea- so long as neither of you ended up falling in the process. You would have to be extra, extra careful, but you were sure you could handle it.
âokay. do you like to read books, or play video games? move your left hand for books, move your right one for video games.â You were already having fun with this.
