My niche market are publications who need a bilingual writer. 

In week two I had the opportunity to develop my enterprise model canvas and to  better define my target market.

A SWOT analysis helps to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of your enterprise in relation to the competition.

At the beginning, my idea was to create an online platform where freelance journalists could share and collaborate their work. However, I realized that this was not a very realistic project for me to create and so I altered my idea to better suite my skill set. For this reason, I have decided to base my entrepreneurial idea on my final year Project and to promote myself as a bilingual freelance journalist. 

“It has been estimated that women will spend an average of seven years in abusive relationships and will have taken at least 35 severe beatings before they ask for help with their situation”.

 Judy Morgan works for the Jan Foundation, a local charity supporting victims of domestic violence. The aim of the Foundation is to involve communities in preventing domestic violence and making people aware about this delicate issue.

Last monday 23rd March Judy spoke at the University of Birmingham during a conference organised by Women’s association UoB.

 “My job is to support survivors of domestic violence, helping them to gain control of their lives, supporting them if they want to move and start a new life, helping them to understand the situation in order to make it not happen again” Judy said.

 Victims of domestic violence are vulnerable and for this reason it is very important to find the right way to speak with them.

First of all, it is important to identify their emotions and to see the situation from their point of view. Co-operation between the victim and the supporter is fundamental in order to have positive results.

 Domestic violence includes different kinds of abuse: psychological, physical, sexual, financial and emotional. The abuser makes his victim subordinate by isolating her from family and friends, depriving her of sleep and food, degrading her with punishments and regulating her everyday behaviour.

Domestic Violence is a very ample and delicate issue that sometimes it is very hard to be recognised. For this reason is important to be aware of suspicious behaviours and to not hesitate to ask for advice and help to the members of our centre.
