Tablet voor kinderen zijn natuurlijk heel goed voor hun ontwikkeling, maar wat heb je eraan als ze niet ook eens af en toe vrij rond buiten kunnen spelen.

Een tablet is dus goed om te geven. Als je dit niet doet dan beperk je de kinderen heel erg in hun ontwikkeling denk ik. Maar je moet er ook aan blijven denken dat ze naar buiten gaan. En kids die veel buiten spelen die verslijten schoenen bij de vleet. Priced at £58.99 on Amazon when reviewed, the Dragon Touch Y88X is a 7” tablet with 1.3 GHz processor. The storage in the tablet can be extended up to 32 GB through microSD card slot along with the internal memory of 8GB. It also features 2 cameras, i.e. front and rear. Both the cameras are of 2MP resolution. With1 GB GB of RAM, Kidoz pre-installed and 1-year warranty, it’s definitely a good buy in this range.

Protecting Case and Device Colour

The Dragon Touch Y88X Plus tablet is not just a regular tablet put in a silicon case, the tablet has rounded edges with inbuilt rubber protection and tough plastic casing available in 3 colors (pink, blue, red and green) to make it as child-friendly as possible.

Cameras, Memory, and Ports

The Dragon Touch Y88X Plus tablet comes with 2 cameras, one front and one rear, both of 2 megapixels. It also has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a microUSB port, a microSD card slot along with a 3.5 mm earphone jack. You can add up to 32 GBs of external storage through microSD card slot. The micro USB port available is used for charging and syncing.

Resolution and Processor

The hardware of the tablet is well built but it lacks having good screen resolution as is the case with most of the kid's tablets. This tablet has a screen resolution of 1024x600 (171 ppi) which is same as that of Amazon Fire. We are yet to see a tablet with good resolution in kids segment and this price range. As this tablet features an IPS screen, colors do look right and the device does not need to be held straight-on to correctly view the colors. Coming to the performance, the Dragon Touch Y88X Plus tablet features a 1.3GHz quad-core processor which is speedy enough considering that this tablet is to be used by a kid. The tablet comes with a 1 GB RAM which is actually a bonus considering the other tablets in this range.

Software

The software is equally important as hardware on a kids’ tablet. I’d say it’s even more important than hardware. It comes with few pre-loaded apps such as Zoodle’s app with Kidoz Pro interface so that once you have set up an account, it’s ready to go with hours of fun before you need to install any new apps. Along with this, the tablet gives parents full access to Android Kitkat operating system, unlike many such tablets available for kids.

Kidoz Interface

The Dragon Touch Y88X Plus comes with full Kidoz Pro software which features an easy, stress-free and kid-friendly interface. Coming to what actually is Kidoz, it is a content discovery platform for kids which helps kids in finding fun, entertaining and relevant content. For example, it will show funny videos on YouTube that are suitable to be watched by your kid.

Kidoz has a large selection of free games for kids along with the largest library of free kids’ videos and a safe web browser with pre-verified websites for them to enjoy. This interface also features its own games and app store allowing a kid to choose from storybooks, learning apps, and games. It has apps for Music, Drawing, Language and Vocabulary, Mathematics etc.

Parental Control

The Dragon Touch Y88X Plus tablet also comes with a parental control software which is inbuilt into Kidoz app. This software allows a parent to control what exactly your kids or kids can do and can’t do and for how long they can use it. There is also an option named Extra Safe Mode (remains on even after reboot) which only allows kids to access the content a parent want his or her kid to see. Also, whenever an app is downloaded from Play Store, a parent can allocate to a particular category, for example, Education, Games etc.
