He manifests flowers and run all of a sudden ???

Why does he have the ability to fly if he can just manifest platform under his feet ???

And vice versa, why does he manifest platform to walk on if he can just fly ???

That's my problem with Flowery, he has a lot going on, stuff that are here just to make him look cool, but urgh, it... it really doesn't work

I try to tell myself it's like, ment to be part of his character ? Like he's ment to be that OP character you roleplay as a kid, who has all the cool powers, just for the heck of it, it's childish fantasy fun yk ?

Imo, the few scenes we have of Flowery in the story (not secret dialogues) tend to antagonise him too much, make him edgy. It feels out of place cause really he's not evil, he just wants himself, his friends and his world to be recognized by the gang, us and the narrative as valuable, on the same level as My castle town, and not just some trivial chapter in the story. Those scenes after you lose his fight felt waisted imo.

cause, like, you losing and being frustrated should have brought his caring nature, and give us a Gerson type dialogue "Hey there, no need to get upset, you fight admirably, but I'm not gonna let you guys pass and end our fantasy !" yk ? But nooOOoo, intead you get lmao you weak babies, try as you might you can't beat a flower's dream- like URGHHHH STFU PLS YOU HAVE NO AURA TO SPEAK TO ME LIKE THAT BOY.

His actions feel... edgy, in a bad way. He wants to be approchable, and the story doesn't balance between being "the antagonist of the chapter" and being the "cool rival" well enough, or don't give him the right tools to be these aspects. Which ends up making scenes where he's ment to be cool and threatening not hold as much weight and it makes him look so ridiculous...

obviously chara is the biggest offender because everything in no mercy* (*this will come up again.) and also because asriel says himself that they weren’t the greatest person despite that textually being him taking chara off the pedestal he put them on in his mind. also asriel is like 8. you need to acknowledge that chara was an obviously mentally unwell child no older than like..13. asriel says himself they climbed mt ebott for an unhappy reason and thats not even getting into the buttercups plan. to me this signals that the fandom believes if you are mentally ill in the wrong way you should be villified and be a scapegoat for what the player does** (**will come up again.)

ut!asgore is also a very major victim of fandom mischaracterization because of the blatant split in the fandom regarding him. asgore is a bad person because he heartlessly murdered the fallen kids. except he isn’t and hes a Good King whos Nice and wants to Get Back With His Wife. except he can be two things at once. obviously he’s not happy about killing the prior fallen children but that doesn’t stop him. he’s still blatantly biased against humans. and yes they killed his son however i’m sure between chara and asriel’s deaths and frisk falling he’s seen at least one outlier. that also doesn’t automatically make the care he has for his people null and void. toby fox doesn’t just write one-note characters and call it a day.

i’m gonna finish this half off with alphys because of the amount of blatant ableism the alphys discourse of old had. obviously hiding what happened in the true lab was a bad thing. nobody’s arguing that. characters can do bad things and have flaws and it doesn’t make them bad people. however everything i saw from the like. 2016-2017 era of the fanbase was almost entirely “uurgghh alphys is so fucking ANNOYING the true lab gave me a reason to hate her GODDDD” and never any deeper analysis beyond that. the reason i bring up ableism is because i think it’s rather telling that people were more focused on hating alphys because of her annoying traits (autism coding. alphys is autistic.) than actually criticizing the amalgamate stuff beyond ‘oh i’m glad she did a bad thing so i can justify hating her’

susie is an odd case because i’ve seen this narrative that she was always a Good Kid float around. she wasn’t. and that’s what’s important. she used to be a bully and a product of her environment (if we go off the idea that card castle/lancer and spade king are reflections of her and her relationship with her parents). noelle’s blog post and the start of ch1 makes it clear she had no problems picking on kris (the only non monster student in hometown notably. going off the theory that susie was adopted by humans could be a reflection of her continuing the cycle of mistreatment). but she changed when she got people who care about her. to say she was always good is to deny her of her character arc and it does her a massive injustice.

tenna is also a really interesting and really weird case because he’s both a fandom darling and gets mischaracterized in new and interesting ways. in a similar way to susie tenna is a product of his environment (namely a very deeply unstable home life) and it shows through his actions and yet half the fandom wants to act like he’s some funny silly guy who just wants to have fun which Conveniently ignores how he lashes out and manipulates (no matter how shit he is at it) and has meltdowns over the slightest provocation. then you have the people who act like hes a Master Manipulator who doesn’t care about anyone and is just a massive bully and its Funny that he mistreats spamton. like i said with asgore he can be two things at once. him lashing out and being unstable doesn’t nullify the love he has for his family and vice versa plus by the end of ch3 before the knight liveleaks him he does seem open to change. its okay to admit the funny suitguy is flawed its okay.

spamton’s what i’ve been building up to since chara btw the fucking switch up on the fandom’s perception of spamton still deeply baffles me. i’ve seen people me so mask-off and ableist and anti homeless about spamton because he’s mentally ill in The Bad Not Approachable Way and like idk man i don’t think i’d be very mentally stable or approachable if i was homeless or wrapped up in cosmic horror bullshit. “oh snowgrave” you can just not buy the thorn ring. you can abort snowgrave at any point up until you actually freeze berdly you are not being forced to buy the thorn ring you just want a character to pin the blame on. you did it with chara you can do it with spamton.

Of course I am being incredibly cynical with this and there are many ways to dispute the points, but these are some points that people have made because they still consider Kerdly a crack ship or “excuse to find yaoi”. Even though Kris is still explicitly nonbinary and those people misgender them in the opposite binary.

Sorry, that is absolutely stupid reasoning I almost have to laugh at it. How the hell does one play Deltarune and NOT focus on the relationships between Kris and those three when they're the focus 90% of the time?? How tf does one ignore them unless you're playing with your eyes closed?? To me it just sounds like people are getting pissy about us trying to involve Berdly into the group dynamic in general, lasering in on finding anything to shit on kerdly, as if that would wreck or ruin the established relationships for some reason. To me, focusing on kerdly is my signal that hey! This person has such a deep understanding of these characters they even caught on to the subtleties of Kris and Berdly's relationship!! They care THAT much about these characters! To dismiss them and cast them aside as an irrelevant joke relationship only does a massive disservice to BOTH of them and their quieter development and history.

Of course, there's some talk to be had about how half the tag is flooded with art of Kris being uncomfortable or annoyed by Berdly (Berdly is actually frustrated with KRIS most of time get it right!!!), which again is a misreading of their relationship, so the pool of people I'm actually talking about here is pretty small 😔

My rebutal to the trolling point would be that if that were the case, then Toby's going overboard with it and he could have stopped tossing us crumbs post Ch2. Hell, he could've stopped after the festival since there being no date was the biggest "fuck you" to Kerdly fans...then the MANDATORY feather scene and Seth happened afterwards. There's no need to rub in a joke that much, it's just rude? Cruel? If he's not planning to do anything with them then what's the point of all the ship tease? Romantic or not, they have a subtle thing going on in the background that I feel needs SOME kind of resolution, even if he doesn't plan to expand on them in some massive way. Toby loves his ongoing jokes and ribbing at fans but this is not one of them.
