my favourite thing about sincaraz is that even if it's rpf, it's never really rpf. like, there is something there. these are two people whose lives revolve around each other, whether they like it or not, and they're forced to be hyperaware of that fact every time they step on court, every time they hear each other's names. there is a psychotic obsession, and nothing will change that. i think carlos is all giggly around jannik off-court, trying to woo him high-school style, but then they step on court and he's locked tf in and wants to rip jannik apart and is pissed off when he can't. and jannik, for his part, will always be nicer to carlos when he beats him. and that is something. the competition comes before the relationship, but the competition is so incredibly erotic. like it doesn't have to be love to be love; it can also be, and is, bloodlust
