A quiet bench in a graveyard. LAYNE and JOCELYN sit side by side, surrounded by tombstones. Layne looks distant, his gaze towards the ground. LAYNE (softly) Olive and I met here... in this graveyard. We bonded over death, the afterlife. I wanted to become a ghost, to float away into eternity. She agreed to help. Perhaps I’m just in love with the idea of her, the idea that she could save me. I thought that was the answer... but now it feels wrong. JOCELYN (quietly) It sounds like maybe you’re afraid of feeling too much... or perhaps feeling nothing at all. LAYNE (looks at her) What do you mean? JOCELYN Love... real love, it’s not about saving each other from something. It’s about letting someone show you parts of yourself you didn’t know existed. You’re already alive, Layne. That can be enough. Layne stares at her, lost in thought. A long, quiet moment passes. LAYNE (softly, as if to himself) Do you think they have a piano in the chapel? JOCELYN (surprised, but intrigued) A piano? LAYNE (nods) I want to show you something. Without another word, they both stand. Layne leads her toward the old chapel at the edge of the graveyard. Inside, the chapel is silent, save for the soft echo of their footsteps. There, in the corner, is an old, weathered piano. LAYNE (quietly) I don’t know if this is the kind of music you like, but... this is me. He begins to play, slow and tentative at first. Jocelyn sits beside him on the bench, watching. The music fills the air—a mix of melancholy and hope.
