Voetsol generation 4, round 3 - ROB & SUUS pt. 2
As time when by, Jake started to feel home at Rob and Suus’s place. He learned what it was to have siblings, something he’d never experienced before, since his own mum was very old when she got him and wasn’t able to have any more kids, even if they’d wanted to.
Suus and Rob have never been too rich. So Jacqui decided to leave them a lot of money when Jesse died, so they could expand their house. They expended their house with another floor andJake got to share the attic with Joey.
For Jake it was hard to tell which family member was his favourite. He could get along with all of them: talking about Henry Puffer with Sophie, playing soccer with his aunt Suus, helping Rob cooking, doing Lego’s with Joey or playing hide and seek with his little nephew Luke.
Through the years Jake developed himself as a happy kid, who was even more outgoing then he always had been.
And one of his favourites was still Eva, his best friend since kindergarten. It didn’t matter if he lived with his parents or if he lived with Rob and Suus, Eva could come over whenever she wanted.
Both Jake and Sophie were very outgoing and brought friends from school very often. Eva went home with Jake on a daily basis. Suus found it very funny but refreshing, since she wasn’t used to guys bringing girls home as ‘just a friend’.
Jake: “So, Eva, my birthday’s in a few weeks! Want to come to my party?! And have a sleep over?”
Eva: “Of course!”
Suus: “Okay! Eva, in case you want to bring your own sleeping-bag, your parents have to bring your things by car. We can’t pick you up, because we don’t have a car, you see. I’d love to meet your parents. You think there’s a change they’d want to drink a cup of coffee here, too?”
Eva and Jake, simultaneously: “That’s not going to happen.”
Suus giggled. “And why would that be?”
Jake shrugged his shoulders and opened his mouth to say something, but Eva already started talking.
Eva: “My mum won’t be pleased to be around a bunch of kids for a long time. She works night shifts and sleeps during the day. And my dad’s seldomly home, because he works a lot.”
Suus: “Oh... that’s a pity, sweety. What kind of job do your parents have?"
Jake looked at Eva, realizing he didn’t knew the answer to that. Eva shrugged her shoulders.
Eva: “My mother works in bars as a bar tender, and at parties. And dad - I don’t know. He always tells us it’s something with aliens. Up in space. But he doesn’t talk about it a lot because my mum thinks it’s nonsense.”
Jake started laughing about the alien-thing, but Suus remained in silence and gave Eva a worried smile.
