Winter Legacy (On Hold)

As Naima worked the room, Grayson kept watch between her and Hana. He watched her glance at her phone, look around the room, then head for the door. Bambi is on the move! He was making his way towards Naima when his route was suddenly blocked by a familiar-looking, older woman.

Adelaide: “Don’t you look delicious.”

Grayson had come face-to-face with what appeared to be an old bitty on the prowl and by the way she was  looking at him, he had become her prey. What IS it with these courtly ladies?

Grayson: “I’m not edible, but the food over there is.”

Adelaide: “And yet it’s not nearly as appetizing as what I see before me. I hope the show is as good as the view.”

Grayson: “Excuse me?”

What show? A puzzled Grayson stood there for a moment trying to figure out what the crazy lady was talking about. While talking to Maxwell, Naima happened to look over to see Adelaide practically molesting her bodyguard. Poor guy. She decided she would go and recue him from death by cougar. Go go gadget, fake smile.

Naima: “Hello, Adelaide.”

Adelaide: “Naima! I was just telling your guest here how I’m looking forward to seeing him in action.”

She was obviously tipsy and lightly swaying in her red bottoms. Naima looked at her, puzzled.

Naima: “What are you talking about?”

Adelaide: “You know. Of the exotic variety? Who knew those Beaumonts were so wily! Does he do private dances?”

Naima: “Wait a minute... You thought Maxwell got Liam a male stripper? For his birthday?”

Adelaide: “And why not? You never know what side a man’s bread is buttered on these days, darling. Or maybe he was a gift for both of you? They do say that royals have the most... unconventional tastes.”

She said the last part with a wicked smirk. She was clearly trying to get a rise out of Naima, but she wasn’t taking the bait. Not today, Satan.

Naima: “It’s not that kind of party.  This is my bodyguard, Grayson, not Magic Mike, and he just alerted me to a possible security thing so, if you’ll excuse us...”

Naima wraps her arm around Grayson’s and moves him away from Adelaide.

Grayson: “Thanks for the rescue. I was sure she was about to unhinge her jaw and swallow me whole.”

Naima: “You got off lucky. No one usually gets away from Madeline’s mom without getting their ass grabbed and her phone number stuffed in their pants.”

Grayson: “THAT’s Madeline’s mom? But she’s...”

Naima: “I know, right? Total opposites.”

Grayson: “Oh, before she pounced on me, I was about to tell you that I saw Hana head out of the ballroom.”

Naima: “Let’s go before we lose her!”

Jesus take the fucking wheel i swear....

Me: You need to use your windows login to access the application

User: What is my user login?

Me: (How the fuck should I know?) However you login to your computer, that’s what you need to use.

User: I don’t know how I login.

While making his way over to the champagne-filled fountain, Drake received a text from Olivia stating she had just arrived and she wanted to talk with him first. Meet me in the sitting room across from the ballroom. He took a deep breath. Time to have THAT talk with her and this time she was going to hear him out. He made it to the room first. Good. That would give him time to figure out exactly what he wanted to say. Not long after, she barreled in. She was clearly upset and before he was able to figure out why, she pointed an accusatory finger at him. She was literally the same color as her dress.

Olivia: “You knew, didn’t you?”

Drake: “Well hello to you too, Olivia. Me? I’m good. But I guess you’d know that if you’d actually picked up your damn phone.”

Olivia: “Don’t change the subject.”

Drake: “Would help if I knew what the subject was.”

Olivia: "Does the incident at the island hotel ring a bell?”

When she saw Drake’s eyes widen, she had her confirmation. Her investigation into Naima’s suspicions turned out to be true. Liam had been deliberately keeping the truth from her. What she had found out was that Naima was in more danger than they realized. Enough was enough. If Liam wasn’t going to tell her, she was.

Drake: “How did you know about that? Wait… that’s what Mason asked you to do, isn’t it? And you went by yourself? Are you crazy?”

Olivia: “Spare me the lecture. I’m a Nevrakis! I can handle myself! What I can’t understand is why he continues to keep this a secret from Naima! You’d think after this last attack he would learn! What’s it going to take? The lifeless body of the Queen of Cordonia found in a ditch somewhere? No! I refuse to let her be in the dark any longer! ”

She turns around and heads to the door.

Olivia: “Where is she?”

Drake: “Wait! Liam and Mason… they aren’t in a good place right now. This could do some serious damage to their marriage, Olivia.”

Olivia: “The king has only himself to blame for that. She has a right to know.”

Drake: “That should be Liam’s decision. He is the king.”

Olivia: “Yes, he is the king. She’s also the queen and… my best friend. If anything happens to her or that baby due to his negligence, I’ll never forgive him!” 

The irony of the situation was not lost on Drake. Of course she can see everyone else’s shortcomings, but she’s completely oblivious to her own. She was clearly living in a glass house. He just so happened to bring a stone.
