A mole found its way into our house somehow and our cat has NO IDEA what to do about it.
Come to think of it, I also have no idea what to do about it.
If we're being really honest, the mole was also unclear of her motives, so I think we were all a bit confused.
Autism actually can make people violent and aggressive, and I’m tired of “autism advocates” saying it can’t. Many autistic people, especially higher support needs people lose control of their bodies during meltdowns and times of high emotion. Some autistics have limited control of their bodies at all times. This body brain disconnect is a prevalent associative feature of autism. This is not to say that measures shouldn’t be taken to protect and teach the autistic person and others, but you can’t erase real, but stigmatized parts of a condition, and then dare to call yourself an advocate. Just because a symptom is unpleasant or unpalatable doesn’t mean it’s not a genuine part of the disorder. Stop ‘cleansing’ your autism advocacy.
and when people acknowledge it they treat it as an Evil Boy Thing which. no. autistic girls (and autistic people considered girls by these sort of people) do it all the time you just don’t acknowledge their existence.
Something often missing from these conversations is like... We're constantly being put through things that would eventually make anyone snap, and "eventually" comes a hell of a lot faster and more often when you're being subjected to stressors all the time.
As things currently stand, a lot of life for autistic people involves being put in overwhelming and confusing situations (and getting scolded/punished for needing a break or asking too many questions), having our autonomy denied and our needs overlooked, being unable to calmly communicate our distress due to any combination of language difficulties/repression/not being given a framework, and often being gaslit about our discomfort/lived reality/that any of the prior mentioned things are happening at all. And that's before we even get to the attempts to "fix" us where the cruelty is very much the point even if it isn't understood as cruelty. Or what happens when all of this gives us (C-)PTSD, which is known for making people reactive and erratic.
Like, the point shouldn't be "autistic people are very nicies and never scary." It should be "autistic people aren't uniquely scary; humans in intense distress act scary sometimes and when an entire cohort of people is exhibiting extreme distress something bad is probably going on."
