Sunda Colugo (Galeopterus variegatus) is one of the most accomplished gliding mammals on Earth.

Although often called a “flying lemur,” it is neither a lemur nor capable of true flight. Its enormous skin membrane stretches from its neck to the tips of its fingers, toes, and tail, allowing it to glide more than 100 meters between trees with very little loss of height.

Sunda colugos are found in the tropical forests of Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, and nearby regions of Southeast Asia.

They survive by moving almost entirely through the forest canopy, feeding on leaves, flowers, and fruit while avoiding ground predators through their exceptional gliding ability.
