Street Lights, Strangers//DJ and Red
DJ paused in his single-minded march for his room. It was polite to talk to people that you run into, right? Right? His exhaustion-fogged brain betrays him at the worst times.
Another fact ticked in his brain. ââsthere a reason youâre ouâ here ânot âna room?â It was, after all, a little odd to find tired-looking people in the lobby of a hotel when they could be sleeping in a real bed, after all.
The longer he looked at the guy in front of him, the more he couldnât help but think he should recognize him. Something about the hat and the jacket ⌠. Still, his brain was on the fritz and only 14 hours of sleep and enough caffeine to kill a small child would fix that.
Still, he offered a handshake. ââm DJ.â He stifled a yawn. âNice to meetyooooou.â He listed forward, leaning like a tree in a stiff wind. Straightening up, he continued, âSorry, âm reeeaaaallly tired.â
Red sighed to himself when the man immediately asked about his reason for being here as opposed to his room. Arceus, was he really that transparent?Â
âToo late to check in,â he offered as an explanation. He didnât say anything else; no need to regale this stranger with the details of his somewhat embarrassing tale. Besides that, he didnât know how much of the story would get across at this point. To say this guy seemed tired would be the understatement of the century.
The last thing Red had been expecting at that point was a handshake and an introduction, but he didnât hesitate in taking the offered hand. âRed,â he replied. Just in time for the man--DJ--to lurch forward. Redâs arms darted forward, but there was no need; DJ quickly collected himself.
No kidding, Red thought when DJ mentioned his exhaustion. Then, he hesitated before saying, âDo you want help?â He didnât like the idea of him wandering through the hotel in a daze, all by his lonesome.
