@siingularâ said: â itâs always about you! â
How had they gotten into this fight? Six wasnât entirely sure; her heart was pounding too fast in her chest to make heads or tails of what was going on, blood rushing to her face as she tried to ignore the hatred she could clearly make out in Monoâs voice. His paper bag did nothing to disguise it: he was mad, and for good reason.Â
It wasnât like she could even argue against his claim, after all. It always was about her. Her survival, her life; it was always her food when she found it, or even if he did. Her safety that came first. Her, her, her. That was the only way it could be, in Sixâs mind. She couldnât trust anyone fully-- trusting was dangerous. Trusting would get her killed. She had been taught for such a long time now by the world that everything and everyone was out to get her.
She had to be selfish to survive. There was no other choice for her in a world like this.
The girl fell silent, tugging on one sleeve of her raincoat as her gaze stayed planted firmly by her feet. She had nothing to say to him. She had no defense to give.
But she still found herself wincing internally when Mono spoke up again.
â iâm not coming back. â
âI donât need you, anyways,â Came the immediate response. The words were cold, with a tone just as icy to match, but inside Six could feel her heart aching-- no. Breaking. Maybe sheâd get lucky-- maybe he wouldnât notice how tears were starting to brim in her eyes, what with all the rain. Maybe he would pass her shaking off as being from the cold. (Though, was that really lucky?)
No matter how much she didnât want to admit it, even to herself, she didnât want to be alone again. But it looked like she had ruined the only chance she had to make a friend here.

he was a bit nervous truly, having tried to make certain she was not going to turn around before he was ready. thankfully he successfully kept his eyes hidden, those possibly the thing he most feared judgement of ( soulless dark eyes can mark many a monster here ) even if he felt exposed without a full-face covering. mono shifts on his feet nervously, despite his elatedness about doing something silly as finding a matching rain hat and wearing it.
â y-yeah⌠i guess, â he offers a shy smile at her first statement, unknowing how else to respond as well as unused to his expressions being out blatantly for all to seeâwith a helm to hide by, he never bothered remaining stoic-faced because nobody would see it anyways. he watches her move next, heart thumping at her snatching up his bagâhis comfort item, but his brief startlement doesnât last because he trusts her.
a grin creeps across the visible part of the boyâs face and he giggles at the mimicking, next legally obliged to comment â â i dunno, youâre a little bit short to be me! â
The comment about being short caused Six to pout childishly and puff out her cheeks, showing her true nature as being a kid for once in her life. It was a rare sight, although...
âYeah? Iâm too short to be you? But I am you! âCause I do dumb stuff like this!â ...she still had a bit of a mean streak, made evident by how she was now trying to climb up the side of a building by using piles of trash in the streets to gain leverage-- with the intention of purposely falling once high enough, in an attempt to show off how silly she saw Mono as.Â
It hadnât really occurred to her that really, the only thing sheâs going to do here is hurt herself, and that it was not going to be fun for either of them. Sheâd already managed to get awfully high up; the small kid was pretty dang swift and flexible. Not to mention stubborn. Now that she had her mind set on this idea, it would probably be hard to talk her out of it, even if Mono realized what she was trying to do...
You canât just give me a rain-hat, give my buddy a raincoat, have us walk through a city with constant rain, and not give us rain-boots to splash around in puddles with

It wasnât every day that one bore witness to a child falling out of a television screen face-first onto the floor of... well, Six didnât know where this was, really. Still, she had certainly come crashing out of the screen, which-- upon glancing behind herself-- she discovered had been shattered into what seemed like a gazillion pieces upon her exit.
Sixâs breathing was labored and full of panic, and she was trying to fight back tears in her eyes-- though, between her oversized raincoat hood and the darkness of this building in general, her crying wasnât too visible just yet. The Thin Man had gotten ahold of her despite her best efforts to flee, dragging her backwards through the TV screen back in the Pale City while she had desperately tried to reach out for Mono to save her; that would have been bad enough in of itself, but something had gone terribly wrong here. She had been stuck in the static-filled void inside the screen for far too long, feeling the manâs grip on her slowly but surely disappear, before she had finally popped out here after what had felt like forever... wherever here even was.
Shakily, the young girl stood, trying to dust herself off while her vision adjusted to the dark place. Was she alone in this place? She kinda hoped she was; it would certainly be better than dealing with more monsters.

Six hated to admit any sign of weakness, but with the constant downpour of rain here in the Pale City, even she was beginning to struggle to hide the onset of sickness that had festered within her due to the cold. She had taken shelter with Mono in an alleyway for a little while earlier that day, allowing herself a brief respite from the world in the form of a nap-- only to wake up with harsh chills racking her small form, and yet at the same time, she found herself feeling strangely hot, even daring to try and shed her signature raincoat.
Right now, the bright yellow garment was tied around her waist as the pair trudged through the soaked streets, looking for the next sign of where they were supposed to go. But it was getting harder and harder for Six to keep up; an unusual sight for one to bare witness to, given that most of the time, she was much more agile than Mono was and would find herself sprinting ahead without meaning to. Her feet dragged against the wet pavement, hunched over slightly as she tried to ignore how awful she felt.Â
Six knew this world wanted her dead, and she wasnât about to let them have that. She had to keep going, no matter how badly she wanted to stop and rest. She just hoped Mono wouldnât notice something was wrong, despite the fact that it was plainly obvious by now.
starter call maybe?
WHAT TYPE OF LONELY ARE YOU?
loneliness born of anger.
you learned from a young age you are not like others, and others hate you for it. you've been mocked and tormented your whole life, and it birthed a violence in your heart. you yell at your younger siblings when they slip up. you don't want them to suffer the same fate you did. at once, you are both miles above and miles below your peers. you are not polite. people no longer dislike you because of you, but for your biting words. it's better this way, after all. at least now you know it's your own fault.

Six was hurt. Both her pride, and her body.
The bullies in this run-down school hadnât exactly been gentle with Six while tying her up, leaving her to hang upside down by her feet from the ceiling with bruises covering her little, battered form in no short number. She wanted to thrash and struggle against the bindings on pure instinct alone, but that had proved fruitless rather quickly already; to be honest, her own movements had just made herself dizzy as she swung around, and the sight of her obvious struggling had caused obnoxious, uproarious laughter from the group of bullies down below. The sound of their mocking cries rang hard in her ears, even as the girl continued to dangle there. She squeezed her eyes shut tight, trying to ignore the way her face was burning with both rage and embarrassment.
Where was Mono? Probably dead, at the rate this whole adventure seemed to be going for her. Six was starting to feel more and more nauseous the longer she was stuck here, able to feel her stomach churning as the blood in her body all rushed to her skull. The fact that this decrepit bathroom smelled exactly like how one would think a place like that would wasnât helping the matter any, either...
Part of her wanted to scream for help, but Six had learned a long time ago that no one would ever come around to help you. No one could be trusted.
She was simply alone.

what is holding you back?
the inability to cherish the good things that happen out of fear of them disappearing
you've been hurt, badly, haven't you? it's been a long time since you've felt comfortable in your own mind. everything's become a sign that you're going to be hurt again. so when something good does come along, you're not used to it. it feels foreign. it's weird and scary. you want to believe that it will work out, but you just can't. you've been burned too many times. because of this, you've become cynical. you never wanted it to be this way, but you're trying to protect yourself. i see how it's easier to not accept the good, out of fear of its inevitable end. once the dust settles, you're terrified of being alone again. but by doing this, you're never enjoying those good moments. you're letting them pass you by. you have to start letting the happiness come to you. even if it's in waves, isn't that better than not at all?
