It's been so many years, so many years of absolutely nothing but torture. Always from the same species you've come to fear being around.
Endless running, even with your thicker foot pads, the human tolerance for pain makes you weaker to the pain. Only the panting from you and the sound of steps in the grass can be heard as you continue to run away from the place you don't think you could've ever called home.
You feel the tears trickle down your cheeks, not necessarily from the pain, but from the relief of freedom, that is until you trip on a particular fallen branch from a tree.
You hiss in pain as you fall forward, deciding to just give in and stay on the ground, sobbing as you hold your ankle, your mind racing back to all of the past abuse you just escaped, or you hope you've escaped.
You don't even register the footsteps before you catch a glimpse of someone a lot taller in your peripheral vision.
You immediately look up the figure in front of you through a blinded vision from tears, scooting back in fear, hyperventalating slightly as he gets closer, you don't know if you can trust him or not yet you're too scared to move further as he's already in proper distance with you.
" What's this? You're not a human are you? But you don't look like an actual monster, " He lifts your chin up to him, turning your face to both sides gently, he takes note of how much you're shaking in his grip. " Why don't you come with me? You don't look like you're in good condition anyways. "
You're hesitant to take his hand he holds out, you notice the claws his gloves cover, though the ache in your entire body begs you to follow him and hopefully get to safety.

He doesn't draw attention when he brings you to the circus, you're taken to a black tent and sat onto a bed, you start feeling nauseous remembering the things they did to you even on such a restful surface.
" I-I don't feel good... " You cover your mouth slightly, he seems to notice and realize what you mean, " Breathe darling, I wouldn't want such fluids on the sheets... You have nothing to fear here, you're safe. " You try to follow on his words, breathing deeply in hopes to get the bile to stop building up.
He doesn't move to touch you, he seems more like he is assessing you, deciding what you are, and what to do with you.
He turns away for a moment, seemingly looking for something, in which he returns with a bottle of water, handing it to you. You tilt your head slightly, he opens the cap himself, " It's water, drink up my dear. " You take a moment to decide if it's safe to drink, yet your thirst mostly acts for you as you take the bottle and drink the entire thing in almost seconds.
He hums, seemingly looking right through you, trying to figure you out. You've never felt so exposed in your life. His entire presence intimidates you, you're not entirely sure if he's trying to intimidate you or if he's just like that.
" You may call me Jester, you're going to stay here for while until I get you back into proper health, yes? Good. Now what is your name little one? " In which you tell him, albeit meekly.
" I shall retrieve a cloak for you to wear for now, i'll have a costume made for you later. " In which you tilt your head when he mentions a costume.
" And one more thing, " He adds before pausing, " You're not an actual human, nor are you an actual monster, am I correct? " He notices you tense up, he knows he's right.
" Please, don't hurt me... " You plead quietly, afraid your little secret will be used against you like in many other instances. He raises an eyebrow through his mask, you wonder how he even does that, " I mean no harm, you aren't necessarily a human, therefore I can tolerate you being whatever you are, and plus, "
He gets closer, his clawed gloves taking one of your hands, eyeing your small, non lethal claws. " The rest of us here, we are more monsterous than you, my dear. " He notices the curious glint in your eyes as he mentions the others.
He later then decides to get you clean, taking you to a shower in a caravan before handing you a cloak to wear for the time being and a towel to use. " You can handle this on your own yes? " In which you avert your eyes somewhere else in defeat, he sighs calmly, " I'll help, is that okay with you? " You nod, feeling you can trust him.
Whilst helping you shower, he notices the many marks and bruises, cuts, scrapes, all over your skin. His touch felt safe, something you weren't used to, yet you eased to rather quickly.
" You shall stay in this caravan, i've already brought you food if you're hungry, do not come out. I will be here at times if you need, yes? " You quickly nod, warming yourself up in the towel he provided. You feel a smile forming on your face for once in a very long time.

He got the Ticket Taker to create a costume for you, little by little he let you meet the other circus members, for some reason, he felt some sort of urge of protectiveness over you, even though he might not have known you that well, he felt you needed to be led into safety, just as he's led the others into safety.
-He lets you around Pierrot and Ticket Taker the most, Pierrot being calm and gentle, he knew you'd feel safe around him. The Ticket Taker mainly because he trusts him, he trusts Bil to watch out for you just as he does.
-He doesn't let you stay around Harlequin alone, he knows what happened last time. Overall, he doesn't really let you around him mostly because of how Harlequin is, he can tell you yourself also fears him, but it's okay because the Jester will make sure he keeps you away from him.
-He will only take you to the Doctor if you get injured or to inspect your injuries from when you first got here, though, he will observe what the Doctor does, making sure he doesn't do anything crazy.
-After a while, he does let you witness some of the others shows, he has eyes all over the circus from the other members, he makes sure he orders them to help him keep watch over you in case any trouble appears.
You always go to Jester for anything, you just feel safe around him, and yes, that even leads to you following him around like a lost puppy, he doesn't mind, as long as it doesn't interfere with his work.
Sometimes, you get night terrors, everything from your past continuing to haunt you everyday and night. You of course decide to go to the Jester, who isn't sleeping, it isn't really a need for him, yet you still needed some of the human necessities from only being half, and that includes sleep.
He will allow you to lay your head on his lap with a book in hand, he uses the other to comb through your hair ever so gently. He might carry you back to your bed whilst you're asleep when he's bored. If you wake up and really don't want him to leave, he will sleep with you, though, don't ever mention it to any of the other members.
I guess you could say he does have a little bit soft spot for you, even the other members could agree. But atleast now, you feel safe.
