Goodbye Despair Hospital [Ending]
After the trial was over, Saito didn't immediately leave the trial room. He was excited about the prospect of leaving the hospital once and for all, but the fact remained that one of his best friends was dead, and this time Saito knew he wouldn't be brought back to life.
He never liked touching corpses, and had never done so even after all the murders he had witnessed, and unfortunately, this time was no different. So he carefully approached Tatsuya's body and looked at his friend, and he allowed himself to cry again. "T-Thank you, Tatsuya, for everything... You don't deserve this, b-but thanks to you, we..." Saito was forced to cut himsef short, not able to say much in his current state, but he still managed a tiny smile. "I'm sorry... and... thank you again... You won't be forgotten." He wished he could say more, but he was sure Tatsuya would forgive him for that. He would understand.
And with that, Saito finally made his way out of the trial room for the last time.
-
And now they stood in front of the doors, and none of them had any idea of what to expect. How was the world now? How was the future? Saito didn't know what would happen next, but strangely, he wasn't very scared.
Smiling to himself, he squeezed Nate's hand. It was the same feeling he had after Tatsuya's trial, not exactly a lack of fear about the future, but something stronger than that, something that told him they would be okay. Once again his friend's sacrifice had brought him hope. It was weird, Saito had never been much of a hopeful person, but he figured that it was probably what Tatsuya had left for him. Saito was happy about it, since it meant he would have no problems in fulfilling his promise of not letting him be forgotten.
As the doors opened, he could hear thousands of people screaming, and he wasn't scared. They could do it. They all could pull through together, and maybe they could even be able to do exactly what they had been trying to do before everything went wrong: to fight against the despair.
He didn't know what would happen next, but after everything they had gone through, there was no way they would lose now. And so he smiled.

This was certainly one of the stranger moments in Tatsuya’s ‘life’. He had gone to sacrifice himself in order to try and help, only to end up returning to this realm. It was embarrassing, but also relieving in a way. That said, they likely didn’t have much time left, but maybe with this new chance he could actually speak properly to everyone one last time.
"Hello." He chuckled, finding himself mimicking the Hypnotist’s grin. Propping his back against the wall for support, he tapped his fingers absent-mindedly against his glasses, kind of irritated with how they didn’t sit properly over his mechanical eye. "I cannot say that I am great… but seeing you all again makes things so much better. What about you…? I hope things have not been too… troublesome…" Grimacing slightly, he bit his lip.
However hearing that he was missed brought a genuine look of surprise to his features, and a shocked laugh left him. “R…Really…? I missed you too…!” Before he knew it there were tears in his eye, emotions running rampant before he could control them. “I thought it would be okay… but… I missed everyone…I am so sorry… I just….I cannot fully believe all this… oddly… ” Cutting himself off short he rested his head in his hands, trying to mask his crying.
"Hi!" He repeated, laughing when he realized he had already greeted the other. Tatsuya looked very different from what Saito remembered, but that was probably because of his new attire. Still, his answer worried Saito. "I can imagine, it must feel weird to die and... come back to life." He said. "I... I guess I'm fine. And it's kind of thanks to you... I-I mean, uh..." Saito blushed slightly. "Yeah, thanks to you..."
Laughing, he continued to blush. He actually had no idea how death worked, but he assumed there was some kind of afterlife from what Tatsuya was saying. However, when he started to cry, Saito wasn't sure how to react. He stepped closer and gently placed a hand on Tatsuya's arm, rubbing it in an attempt to calm him down. "It's alright, you helped us so much... we all missed you too, but we understand why you did it... Please don't cry..." He was curious about what he meant, but now wasn't the time to press him to speak. Saito was sure he could explain later.

“It’s ok to cry.” Nate tried to reassure Saito. He thought about the last time he cried, the bar, the resurrected Tyz, everything he said. He tensed up for a moment but managed to stop thinking about it. He relaxed and just enjoyed holding and being held by Saito. “I don’t want to go, honestly.”
"I know... but I've been crying too much... I think it must be because I haven't been able to do that lately..." He was afraid all his whining and crying would scare people away, so he usually kept it to himself. Smiling, he closed his eyes and kept his head on Nate's shoulder. "Alright, then stay..." He murmured, sighing happilly.

Nate was surprised when he felt Saito grab his arm. He didn’t expect Saito to want him to stay but he was happy to. He smiled when Saito pulled him into a hug and slowly wrapped his arms around Saito in return. “I’ll stay then. I want to stay, I thought you would’ve wanted but if that’s not a problem then I’ll stay.” He was repeating stay a lot, he wasn’t sure why he felt the need to explain everything, probably nerves. But he was happy.
Saito didn't say anything, he simply kept his arms around Nate, and after a while he laid his head on his shoulder. "I'm sorry... I really need to be able to... talk to you without crying..." He murmured with a quiet laugh. "I promise I won't cry again..." He felt happy now, but he was stupidly emotional. "You can go if you want to..."

Tatsuya wasn’t sure how long it had taken him to leave the morgue again. What may have been minutes felt like hours, and it took every ounce of his will to be able to walk past those bodies again. If it wasn’t impossible… he would have done something for them. Something more… but they were too damaged… and he couldn’t…
He shook his head violently, trying to dispel the memories of their corpses. Perhaps what he could do now was to immortalize their memory, and gain revenge properly this time. There was only one problem… he had a good idea of who was behind this… he just needed the evidence, and he couldn’t risk it being thrown out into the open too early otherwise everything might be at risk.
Finally turning his eyes to his surroundings, he caught sight of familiar red and grey attire. Was that…?
"S…Saito…?" He coughed out, nearly tripping over his feet as he noticed his friend. It did seem like he wasn’t quite adjusted to walking again just yet… Placing a hand to the wall he stepped forwards, wondering if he had spoken loud enough to be heard. "Saito… is… is that you…?"
Saito was incredibly happy to hear a very familiar voice calling his name. It wasn't a loud call, but he definitely heard it. He looked around for a moment, trying to find the owner of said voice, and when he did, he grinned.
"Tatsuya! Hi!" He said in a cheerful tone, immediately going to where he was and stopping in front of him. It was impossible for Saito to deny he had missed Tatsuya a lot. "Are you okay? I really missed you...!" A thought briefly crossed his mind, Tatsuya didn't look like he was feeling well, but Saito would get back to that later, right now he was just excited to see him alive again.

A murder had happened. Saito was sad and angry that they had lost their best chance to escape, but he didn't feel sad as he had felt about the other murders. It was clear that he had met the victims before, but he couldn't remember it, so he felt nothing. It was weird, but at the same time it was normal. He knew he should be investigating, but that would be useless. He was never good in investigations, and the lack of clues made things harder. Plus, Saito had other plans.
Now that he knew the dead people weren't programmed to despair, he felt excited by the prospect of being able to talk to everyone again. He didn't know how long they would stay, so he had to be quick. He didn't think they would survive the next trial, and he didn't want to die with any more regrets, so he walked around the hospital, feeling partially happy to see it full of people again, trying to bump into someone he could talk to, someone who wasn't busy with other people.
Why? II [Open]
Eyes open, he looked around the room. The dead people room, great. Wait… Dead people room? Dead people room. And he’s not dead. Wow. Really great.
No despair. No weird feeling… He was old, hateful, detestable, Kengo. Not like it was any better than when he was dead. He would’ve preferred staying dead atoning for his sins. Whatever those preachers say…
Still blind though, no change there. Although, for some reason, he had another eyepatch on. Well, it let him feel more at peace than anything. He was the same as last time, patched up crudely, most of the hideous “fixes” covered with his lab coat and clothing, luckily enough. He moved around a bit before standing up. The other “dead” students had already left.
Without hesitation, he stepped into the hallway and called out loudly,
“IF THERE ARE ANY LOSERS NEAR ME, GET OVER HERE!”
That oughta catch some attention… Hopefully.
So the dead people were back to life again... Saito wondered how long they would stay there this time, and the timing was incredibly convenient, seeing that they had a trial coming up. He knew he should be investigating, but he also knew there was nothing he could actually do in the investigation, so he decided to look for some of his deceased friends first.
Of course that when he got to where they were supposed to be, there was no one around anymore. Well, except one person. One person who was yelling in the middle of the hallway. Ah, yes, wonderful. It had to be Kengo. Kyo was going to be delighted.
"...Why the fuck are you yelling? That's rude..." He said, giving him a small smile and an awkward wave. "Also, hello."
Saturday Nate Live
Nate didn’t notice any uncertainty in Saito’s voice. He just took what he said at face value. Everything was spinning out of control, one way or another things were coming to a close but maybe if he was lucky stuff would work out for them. Nate let go of Saito. He didn’t know what else to say. He considered saying Saito didn’t need to be sorry but he didn’t, he’d just move on from that. He looked away, to the door of the male ward. He looked back to Saito and smiled at him. “I’ll give you some space now. I’m glad I told you though.”
When Nate let go of him, Saito smiled. He was really happy Nate had told him, since if it was up to himself, he would have taken the secret to the gave. Well, it wasn't exactly a secret, Saito was still unsure of his feelings. The only thing he was sure about was his dumb crush, and he didn't know if that was the same as liking Nate, but he knew he would come to like him, and it wouldn't take long.
"W-Wait!" Saito grabbed Nate's arm. "You don't need to leave... unless you really want to..." He said, running his hand up and down the other's arm. Reaching out with his free arm, Saito wrapped it around Nate's waist and pulled him a bit closer for another hug.
Shocking. [Closed RP;- Saito and Chiau.]
—♧So much had been happening over the past few days, and Chiau’s mind was in a mix of complete despair and dizziness from it all. She didn’t wish to speak to anyone, or even make eye contact with anyone. She only wished to figure out the hospital’s secrets by herself. She’d get a lot more done that way, without dealing with grief, without dealing with people, without dealing with death. If anyone came to her with murderous intents, she’d know how to deal with them, she wouldn’t let herself be caught off…
guard.
Crash. Chiau’s musings were cut short by the feeling that her body had slammed into that of another person. She fell helplessly to the floor, a slight yelp escaping her mouth. She rubbed at her head, trying to get out of the daze she was caught in as she fell over, waiting for her vision to come back to her. As she looked up, she saw the figure of a boy she knew very well, yet at the same time, knew nothing about. Of course, it was Saito. Chiau didn’t move, however, she did bow her head apologetically towards the male who had fallen opposite her.
”…! Oh, my apologies, Saito- I wasn’t looking where I was going, and I…- Oh…” Struggling to find anymore words to apologise, Chiau simply found herself sobbing. Why was she crying? All she did was bump into him. Perhaps this was something more, however.
Saito wasn't exactly paying attention to his surroundings like he should be, since his last conversation with Nate he had been a little too distracted. He knew it wasn't a good thing, but he couldn't help it. Although he was distracted, he never expected someone to bump into him like that.
He felt like an idiot when he fell to the floor, but at least he wasn't the only one who had fallen. Looking up, he noticed the one who had bumped into him had been... Chiau? Oh no. Saito was ready to leave in case she got angry at him, but what came out of her mouth was the opposite of what he expected.
Blinking surprised, Saito tried his best to give her a smile, even if he was still slightly scared. Making a motion as if to touch her shoulder, he said, "H-Hey, it's alright, you don't need to cry...!" Of course he quickly noticed what he was doing, and, being too scared to touch her, he retracted his hand. "Seriously... it's okay... you're not hurt, are you?"

Saturday Nate Live
“I… I understand.” Nate’s voice was quiet, sad. He wasn’t lying though, he did understand. He understood everything, he should have expected it really but he didn’t and now he did feel hurt. He wasn’t being rejected or anything, if they made it out of here together everything could be great. But there was so much chance of thing’s going wrong. Nate began to feel frustrated as he thought of it all, everything bad that could happen that he was powerless to stop. Nate quickly ended up hugging Saito. He wouldn’t let things go further now but he needed another hug really, in case stuff did happen. Holding Saito tight Nate began to whisper. “Please don’t die. Or kill anyone. Just stay alive and stuff, ok? Please.”
Saito could hear the sad tone in Nate's voice, and it made him feel guilty. He wasn't trying to reject him or make him feel sad, and even though Nate said he understood, Saito somewhat doubted it. "I'm sorry..." He murmured just as Nate hugged him. He hugged him tightly, nodding as he heard him whispering. "I'll do my best..." It didn't sound as convincing as Saito expected, but he hoped Nate wouldn't catch on the slightly uncertainity on his voice.
Saturday Nate Live
It was a small kiss but it was as good as Nate hoped, after it happened he was smiling, probably like an idiot. He noticed Saito’s blush and thought how cute it looked. He considered saying something but then he worried Saito might be embarrassed about it. So he decided to say something about his eyes which he could see clearer now Saito had his glasses off. “You’re eyes are nice. You look good with your glasses off. You look good with them on too. I mean I think you look good whatever but…” Nate ended up sighing, he wasn’t great at compliments. Saito still had his arms around his neck so Nate leaned in again to kiss Saito, a longer kiss this time.
When Nate complimented his eyes he blushed harder. He had no idea what was so special about his eyes, they were just a normal brown color... Saito thought Nate was exagerating, but didn't say it out loud. "T-Thanks..." He didn't know how to reply to that, so he whispered his quiet response.
After their second kiss, Saito unwrapped his arms from around Nate's neck and awkwardly reached his glasses, which he had dropped on his bed, before putting them on once again and sighing. "H-Hey, Nate... I'm sorry, but... we shouldn't take this any further for now..." He said in a quiet voice. "I-I mean, it's not that I don't like you... but we should be careful... and we should wait until we leave this place to... you know, actually have a relationship or something... Y-You understand that, right?"
Saturday Nate Live
When Saito covered Nate’s hand he found himself smiling and he noticed his hand had stopped shaking. He listened to what Saito said, shocked but pleasantly shocked. He began to think of logistics of what Saito was asking him, he didn’t have any money; he didn’t know where they could go. But he took a deep breath, calmed himself down; he could deal with that when he had to. He carried on smiling and nervously nodded at Saito. “I…” He was worried about making any promise; they had a way of going uncontrollably wrong. Nate wouldn’t let that get to him though, he wanted to promise this. “I promise, Saito.” He wanted to do something now, he leaned his head in closer to Saito. He decided to ask first, he was being so stupidly careful right now. “Um, can I kiss you?”
Well, Nate promised to take him on a date, so he would have to do his best to stay alive. He was really looking forward to it, even if they had other things they should be worrying about. When Nate asked for a kiss, Saito blushed and then grinned in a ridiculous manner. "S-Sure..." He awkwardly wrapped his arms around Nate's neck and leaned closer to him before giving him a small kiss, still blushing like a schoolgirl in a bad shoujo anime.
Saturday Nate Live
Why was he laughing? Nate felt confused but began to calm down when Saito told him not to worry. He listened to Saito’s explanation. Nate was actually surprised no one had ever told Saito they liked him before, there must have been people who did, maybe they were too shy? Nate had never told anyone he liked them before, he’d never really gotten to know anyone his own age that well before. Still he could see how absurd it was that it had happened here, if he was outside of this situation he might have laughed.
Saito began to cry again, covering his face as he did. “It’s ok.” Nate said quietly though he was still confused. He nervously placed his hand on Saito’s shoulder, it was shaking slightly but hopefully not enough to notice. Nate still didn’t have any real idea of how Saito felt about him, “I…um…” He considered asking about it but backed out, not wanting to put any pressure him.
Saito let his hands fall to his lap when he felt Nate touching his shoulder, then, after a moment he slowly reached up and covered Nate's hand with his own. He managed to calm down again in a short time, and with his free hand he wiped his eyes again.
"Hey..." He started shyly. "Just... promise me one thing...?" Before Nate could answer, he continued. "After we leave this place... you'll take me out on a proper date, alright?" Saito said, with a small grin plastered on his face. "And... you will pay. Because you confessed first, okay?" He didn't know if they would both leave alive, but having plans like those would probably make them both strive harder for survival.
Saturday Nate Live
Nate found himself smiling when Saito said thank even though it was a strange reaction. Coming in here he understood it might be a shook for Saito so when he emphasised how he didn’t know what to say Nate stayed calm. He’d prepared himself to wait while Saito processed everything. But then Saito began to cry. And Nate began to panic. His face fell, he felt guilty. Nervously he approached Saito’s bed. “Um…I’m sorry.” He knelt down, trying to make things better. “I didn’t want to hurt you or anything. I’m… I’m really sorry. Should I have not said anything?”
Saito laughed quietly through his tears; "No, no, don't worry..." He took off his glasses and started wiping his eyes as he spoke, slightly embarrassed to be crying in front of Nate again. At least he had managed to calm down a bit before speaking again. "It's just... no one has ever told me anything like that, a-and... the first time ended up being in a place where I can be killed at any moment..."
"I-I'm really sorry... I didn't want to... cry again..." He murmured. As the tears came back, he hid his face behind his hands,

[saito voice] this isnt even my final form
Saturday Nate Live
Nate couldn’t believe Trinket had talked him into this. Well that wasn’t exactly true, he’d asked for advice basically and based on what she’d told him he’d decided to do this. Whatever happened was his own fault. Nate was looking for Saito. He was checking different rooms and once he found him he planned to tell him the truth. Tell Saito he likes him. Nate couldn’t help but feel this was all going to go horribly for him, Trinket had implied Saito had a crush on him but Nate was still worried.
The male ward. He should have checked here first really, maybe he was afraid to find him. Nate walked in and saw Saito. “Hi, Saito.” Nate’s voice was shaky, hesitant. This was ridiculous. Nate had been shot at multiple times and stayed composed but right now all he was trying to do was say something genuine and he felt terrified.
“So, I’m sorry about earlier.” He was beginning to apologise as much as Saito. “I guess I must have kind of confused you? And I shouldn’t have left, I was just afraid.” He was still being cryptic, he needed to actually say something. Nate crossed his arms and stood at a distance from Saito. “You’re actually pretty cool, you know? I guess you don’t know actually. I don’t think you realise how good you are. I really would have liked to know you outside of here. Maybe we could have had a normal conversation, not had all this stuff hanging over us.” Nate looked down, feeling embarrassed. “You know before the trial when I spoke to you and then ran off, I realised I…I cared about you.” He avoided saying it at the last second. It was true, Nate did care about Saito, seeing him sad made him sad but that wasn’t what he needed to say. He looked back up at Saito and took a deep breath, time for honesty. “I realised I like you. I…I like you. You’re nice, even though things are awkward and I’m focused on other stuff I’ve liked talking to you. And I think you’re a genuinely good person and I really hope you don’t die here. And you’re…you’re hot. And cute. So I like you. Because of stuff like that and others things I can’t remember because I’m nervous and panicking. And I don’t know what happens now and I’m not sure I made the right decision I just…didn’t want to regret not telling you. So…now you know.”
The hospital life was starting to become more exciting, but not exciting enough to make him want to go out and explore again. So he was laying on his bed when he saw Nate coming in. The last time they spoke Nate didn't seem to have much to say, so Saito expected him to leave again.
"...H-Hi..." He returned the greeting. He wasn't expecting much out of this conversation, but as soon as Nate started to speak Saito found himself wide-eyed, staring at him and unable to think of anything to say. He listened to Nate's confession in silence, and after it was over, he just blinked.
"I... I... Whoa..." Saito murmured. "I... I don't know what to say... I guess... thank you...?" He had never been in a situation like that before, and he never expected to have this to happen while in this hospital. "N-Nate, I... I really don't know what to say..." Was this really truth? Of course Nate had no reasons to lie about that, and his attitude showed he was being honest... When he realized that, Saito felt tears coming to his eyes. He didn't want to cry in front of Nate again, but after all he said... there was a small possibility of both of them leaving this place, and that was all he could think of as he started crying.
