I have two intersex cousins. Back in the 1990s, when they were young teenagers, their parents were told by doctors that their undescended testes needed to be removed because of vague future cancer risks, blah blah. Having been told it was the right thing, their parents had the surgery done. It threw my cousins into an instant non-hormonal state. Brain fog, trouble focusing. Horrible osteoporosis by their 20s (leading to at least one terrible broken bone.) They would have to speak to the rest of their experiences but. Essentially no sex hormones in their bodies.
I also have an intersex niece* (yes. It runs in my family. We found the gene and everything, and my grandkids may well be intersex because I’m a carrier. Those genes are for the Complete Androgen Insensitivity version, with an affected XY person having external labia and undescended testes.) She was born in 2020, and blessedly we know more. While she did have one surgery as an infant, it was to correct a hernia and the placement of her kidneys. While her parents monitor her health and she has some regular ultrasounds of her testes to make sure everything is fine, there is no reason at all to do anything to her body, which is perfect and beautiful just the way it is.
As are ALL intersex bodies.
