Hey, marching orders came down—the Oaths Kept is going to be departing tomorrow. Stupidly short notice, I know.
My gear is already packed up, so I was wondering if I could come say goodbye in person?
|| JADWIGA ||
Fuck, I-
That soon..?
Uh... y-yeah. Please... I... I gotta tell ya somethin' 'for ya go. It'd be best in person.
UNFINAL GOODBYES
H-hey!
[The woman is pulled from a glum demeanor for a moment to greet the other, as might one's dog when they return from work. She falls back into a slouch in short time, though. It's hard for her to forget the circumstances of this meeting.]
Hey Sash. Come on in.
[She moves aside to eagerly let the officer into her home: something that would have been unheard of only months ago.]
Can I getcha anything? Water? Tea? A snack?
[Desperate. Desperate to keep her there longer, even by seconds.]
Sasha stepped inside, smiling wide. "Water would be nice. But, before that—c'mere."
Her arms wrapped around Jessie in a strong, tight hug that might've lifted her off her feet ever so slightly.
"Hey, why the long face? We've still got a good few hours. Besides, I even have something for you!"
[Jessie gasps as she's grabbed, but as Sasha is used to, her long limbs relax after a moment to reply with a gangly grip around her.]
F-Fer me? Really?
[Her timidness seems to vanish for a moment as Sasha offers her some sort of surprise. It might seem inappropriate, given the context, to compare her to a dog being promised a treat. And yet...]
"Here."
She set her down and took one of Jessie's hands in her own for just a moment, pressing something warm and metallic into it.
"I don't know if you've ever lived downwell, but having somewhere to hang around might be a help while you're getting your life turned around, so... keys to my house. Not like I use it while I'm on duty." She grinned. "I've got a very nice kitchen."
I-I see...
When ya mentioned the house I was... kinda in a state. Almost forgot you were serious...
[She takes the key and stares at it, as if expecting it to fly away.]
I um. I'll get you that water!
[Like fetching a ball, she's back in under a minute with a glass as she leads Sasha to a comfortable spot in her little lounge room.]
So uh... hours, you said? That's. Better than I thought!
"Yeah, a bit better. My gear's packed already, and its about a thirty-minute walk from here to the Oaths Kept. I'll need to arrive early because I'm an officer but we should have... about six hours?"
O-Oh! That's a good while, ok! I could uh. Make you a goodbye meal or somethin! Then we could. Um. Uh.
[She seems. Unsure of what people do when they spend time together. Like she hasn't really done this in quite a long time.]
"...could what?" Sasha gently asked.
Uh... good question... I'm gonna be honest, Sasha, I ain't really... hosted a lot.
[She looks a little sad.]
Uh talk, I guess? I dunno, I just wanna be near you. No tellin' when I'll have another opportunity...
"Well... what do you wanna talk about, then?" Sasha asked. "Or we could put on some kind of movie for some background noise and chat about whatever comes up."
That... sounds good.
[She kind of awkwardly switches a monitor on in the little living room and starts flipping through to find something, taking a seat in the corner of her couch.]
So uh. Any idea what you'll be up to when ya leave? Where yer goin'? I get that's maybe classified or sumthin' but...
