Someone once told me that being on adhd medication is going through life on performance enhancing drugs. I have mixed feelings about that. On the one hand yes, going off adhd meds has taught me how to not use my meds as a crutch for organization processes and working with my natural attention span and energy levels. Getting in tune with yourself limits and your abilities is a good thing. On the other hand, it is the vital piece for functioning normally and it holds the key to my object permanence. Trust me I have forgotten 23 dollars of groceries in the cart at the store 2x just because I was not on my meds while shopping. So yeah I don’t think gaining object permanence is exactly playing life on cheat mode more like evening the playing field.
