'It's been a while...', you had thought out of the blue.

Although to be fair, as you walked along the seashore of Nod-Krai's harbour, the sea breeze gentle against your face and going through your hair, you couldn't help but remember a certain someone.

You haven't seen him since you've last stumbled across him somewhere in Liyue, as he enjoyed the sceneries and conjure up haikus. You knew he'd be wandering off on his own for awhile.

But you couldn't help but be slightly disappointed when you hadn't seen him with the Crux when Beidou had took part in the recent Nod-Krai exhibition.

Well, you should've thought as much. Even Beidou herself wasn't sure when the wandering samurai would be back. He never gave a certain time, she had told you back then...

But now you can't help but think of him once more. How he was doing, if he had found and seen what he wanted, was he eating and resting well? Were the people he had met all been kind to him? Sometimes you couldn't help but worry.

And as you continued to zone out, absentmindedly staring at the ocean's horizon, you failed to notice someone stopping in his tracks not too far from you.

It took him a few seconds, before his steps continued, but now hastened as he made his way towards you. Your back growing closer with each step.

Suddenly you feel warmth on your back, arms encircling you from behind in a gentle embrace. Despite the initial shock, it felt tender and soft. As if trying not to scare you...

It would be a lie if you said you didn't recognised that bandaged hand, or the hand guards and kimono sleeve of his.

"Kazuha?"

Your heart flutters at the gentle chuckle tickling your ear. The soothing voice you've been missing, pleasantly accompanying the ocean waves.

Illuga listens attentively as you re-tell him what you've been doing the past week. He meanwhile had been busy with reports and a sudden three days seminar from a certain craftshop...

Looking forward to this! But mostly bc I want to see more glimpses of shneznaya & the new guy! (or maybe even more new guys :3c)

Though it's very wishful thinking bc of course it'll be sandrone focused but one can hope wkwkwk...

You sat there quietly, cheek propped on your arm as you laid your head on the table. Watching as Lohen goes through the pile of paperwork he had been ignoring for awhile. He was finally forced to get them done and he had brought you with him to accompany him.

It's been a few hours, and the bored look on Lohen's face told you everything. But honestly you have grown bored too. The only entertainment you had was watching his handsome face, and you did enjoy it. You're just getting restless from sitting there for so long.

You weren't even aware when you had absentmindedly raised a hand, reaching towards him. Next thing you knew, your finger reached his cheek. Poking gently and easily garnering Lohen's attention.

A raised brow before the corner of his lips curl up slightly,

"I know I asked you to accompany me, but I didn't say you can distract me now... Otherwise we both know these won't be done anytime soon..."

Lohen easily catches your hand in his, turning to look you more with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"But I guess it is time to call for a little 'break'~"

It was normal for him to watch. He watches everything after all. Even you knew he watches his surroundings constantly. That includes watching you. Even when you don't realise it...

And Lohen has been watching you for quite some time. Catching up with a friend you haven't seen in awhile. Chatting and eating at one of the tables at Good Hunter, happy to exchange stories and experiences.

He's not a jealous guy. He gets your attention all the time, can catch your attention easily. He's merely just...competitive.

Yeah, "competitive"...

And the tapping of his finger against his knee immediately stopped, as he sees your friend reaching over towards you.

"Ow! What th--Lohen??"

"'Sup"

"Don't 'sup me, you bit me!", you pointed accusingly at him, your other hand soothing the slight stinging sensation still tingling at the nape of your neck.

He doesn't even look the least bit guilty as he casually pulled a chair and sat right next to you, an arm languidly slung over your shoulders like nothing happened.

"Whoops, my bad..."

When you had thought you were just going to take the day slow, taking in a few simple commissions from the Adventures Guild, one thing just led to another;

Your foot slipping while climbing, falling down and spraining your ankle... You had assumed that was the worst of it today, but perhaps you had jinxed yourself for thinking that in the first place. Because as you limped your way back to the city to claim your reward (luckily you had completed the commission just before you fell), a group of Hilichurls had set their target on you.

Wonderful.

You'll just try your best to survive. If you meet your end there, at least you had tried to do something.

A sudden painful cry suddenly pulled you away from our thoughts, a dagger lodged in the middle of a Hilichurl's chest followed by a familiar voice. There was no way you could mistake that mocking yet excited laugh of his.

"And you keep telling me to stay out of trouble. You should take your own advice you know, can't have your pretty little self getting hurt now, can we?"

Things were a blur right after. He made quick work of getting rid of the threat, not one Hilichurl spared. Though his once white poet shirt and breaches stained red a little, but of course none were his. Even the red smudge on his cheek. Yet he still had the audacity to sigh, even complaining they all went down too fast for his liking. He thought these ones would have been tougher.

"Oh well... Now for this injured little thing..."

"Stop calling me that, and don't look so smug Lohen, or I will smack it away from your handsome face myself...", you grumbled, knowing he'd at least tease you a bit because your recklessness. Not that you were ungrateful. It's just his teasing isn't good for your heart-

"Oho? A compliment? That's rare coming from you. But now I know you at least like my face..."

"That wasn't the point!", came your spluttered out reply, the grin he gives you before examining your ankle, touching it so gently as if it was something fragile only served to fluster you more.

"Of course of course"

You would've retorted at the way he dismissed your words like he doesn't believe you, if only he hadn't suddenly told you to 'Hold on tight'. And suddenly you're hauled over his shoulder.

"Sorry, this is the best way for me in case there's more trouble up ahead. So be a dear and sit tight will you?"

You weren't sure if he was serious or teasing you again, it's hard to tell when he uses that usual nonchalant tone of his...

"Right, so you'll help out with the celebration preparations?"

You gave your friend an enthusiastic nod, eager to help with anything to celebrate the return of the expedition team. It felt like ages since they left, although you were worried about a certain someone, but you were also excited to see him again.

"Of course! I'll come with you right now- AAHH!!", you were immediately interrupted, feeling the ground before you disappearing and you're suddenly seeing upside down.

Actually now you're staring at someone's back, a familiar one that you haven't seen in months. What once was his signature white and black adventurer outfit, is now his blue Knights of Favonius uniform. The voice you've missed a lot immediately meeting your ears.

"Whoops, sorry but I need to borrow them for awhile. Hope that's okay?"

"L-Lohen?!"

"Oh my... Of course! We'll be on our way then Vice Captain Lohen", the amused giggle from your friend had you flustered in seconds.

"Lohen what gives! I told you not to pick me up like a sack of potatoes anymore!"

"Really now? I don't think I remember agreeing to such a thing. Besides, carrying you is much more pleasant than carrying potatoes~"

"F-Fine.... I'll let it slide for now. Just because you only just got back...", you mumbled reluctantly, the grin on his lips that you couldn't see widening mischievously.

"I've actually been back for awhile now you know~"

"You what?!"
