Maximum Mean Machine

she always had the most unique face. most of the time she looked angry, but sometimes she looked sweet. everyone thought she was funny looking, but i was only 5 when we adopted her and all i knew was that we were made for each other. i wish i could remember first meeting her, but according to the story we both clicked immediately and my mom knew she was the right cat. she was the last of her litter to be adopted. it was like fate.

she loved to lounge. she always slept in the chair by my bed and i would find her in the strangest positions. she was never the cuddly type, but neither was i, so we enjoyed just being in each other’s company. she didn’t like being picked up or pet for too long, but just saying her name would make her start purring from across the room. as she got older she stopped coming up to my room to sit in my chair or wake me up, and that was really hard.

i will always remember her as the curious, brave, and friendly cat who loved to be there when anyone worked on projects. she was fascinated by construction and would actively run towards the sounds of power tools to check things out. i think she was a carpenter in her past life. she got to enjoy a lot of remodeling with us since we were always working on the house. she was our little foreman.

most of all i loved going outside with her. she loved to lay in the sun, take dust baths, and watch birds. we looked at so many bugs together. she was always so gentle and was more interested in watching the world than hunting. she just wanted to sit with me and purr and rub her head against me. i miss her voice so much.

ginger was my best friend and will always be my best friend. i am so lucky to have gotten the chance to know her, and i truly don’t think there has been or ever will be another cat like her.
