i need the physician side of messmer, the same side that pushed him to try to heal the jarlings,
and i need messmer to dissect the prince of death.
but since the prince of death can't really die, godwyn feels all of it.
when messmer cuts part of his tail, feeling his meat so cold and pale, no blood flowing through the scales shedding. and he smells it, he tastes it in front of godwyn's tearing eyes. it still tastes very human, no matter the blight.
when messmer opens his tail, fingertips drawing his fishbone, causing his muscles to spasm with the touch. he can count it one by one, so white and sharp as needles. he breaks one as sample, but he keeps as souveneir.
when messmer finds his new and odd anatomy, an entrance like a wound where he inserts fingers and realizes that godwyn still has that familiar spot that draws a dark, octopus-like semen when he presses it enough.
when messmer draws the Y from his collarbones to his chest, and opens his rotting body, still breathing alive in a disturbing way. pulls out his black and decomposing organs, just to see godwyn contorting, muttering weird sounds, living in death.
when messmer reaches his exposed heart, pierced with thorns of the blight. and he holds it, still beating, still alive with no soul inside. a mechanical beat between his fingers, resisting the plague eating his rotting body. it bleeds when he squeezes it and godwyn gasp, seeming more alive than never.
and it is all so intimate. to be inside his most perfect brother, to feel his body react to his presence. and godwyn feels alive once again, not just a vessel reacting, but a body feeling pain. and there's no bigger sign of life than pain.
