Even though they were amongst the relative cover of the trees, Amity could hear the wind starting to pick up speed, could hear the complaining groans of the branches above them.

She spared a glance over to Leon, lips parted as she prepared to speak up, but as if reading her mind, Sherry's voice came crackling over the comms, ❝Heads up guys, looks like that storm is coming in way faster than we anticipated...❞

Pausing her footsteps for a moment, she spares a glance upwards, staring through the gaps in the treetops. Every inch of sky she can see is dark, gray and angry.

Fuck.

Sherry doesn't wait for a verbal response before she continues, ❝Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but if the reports are anything to go by, you're going to have to hunker down sooner rather than later... Extraction isn't going to be possible until after this weather system passes.❞

Double fuck.

Immediately, Amity's gaze is lowered from assessing the sky, and is instead assessing the tree line on all sides. But it is as she is doing so, that the first drop of rain comes... It's soft, falling onto her cheek and running a gentle trail downwards, but it doesn't stay that way.

In the span of literal seconds, it starts absolutely pouring.

Triple fuck.

Strands of her ponytail are swiftly starting to cling to her skin, water steadily dripping off her chin. She chances another glance over to her partner then, and there's a quick flash of annoyance at how goddamn good he looks soaking wet like this.

But now is not the time, nor the place.

Clearing her throat, she shifts her focus right back to the immediate task at hand, ❝ ... I don't suppose you happen to have a suggested location just sitting over there in your pocket, huh, Sher?❞

It isn't uncommon for Amity to find herself resting amongst silken sheets alone. Their lives are busy, but they do not begrudge each other that, it's just the way things are with them.

But that is why she savors it all the more when she does find herself in his arms... When she can curl into him, limbs entangled, and just lay there, listening to the soothing timbre of his voice.

But tonight, it appears it is her lover's turn to find comfort in her voice instead, and so, with her head tucked perfectly beneath his chin, the petite blonde begins to provide him with a detailed recount of the events of her day...

Amity has witnessed Lestat's presence onstage, has seen just how much of himself he brings to every single song he performs, and so she knows he must be entirely exhausted...

━━━ It's why she speaks her recollections to him in low tones, while manicured fingertips brush delicate whispers along his forearm. And when that arm starts to rest just that little bit heavier about her waist? She knows at once that sleep has found him.

That he has sought to find refuge against the world here...

In this bed.

With her.

It means more than any extravagant gift, means more than any beautiful trinket, speaks more than any words could ever hope to convey...

Lips curving into a soft smile, and heart swelling boundless in its affections, she settles in closer against him before she too, lets her eyes fall shut.

In those early morning hours, sleep comes to the super soldier far easier than it has in weeks...
