i personally like aot’s upending of the “monstrous other.” that twist is at the heart of it, including in terms of the zombie apocalypse premise and fiction’s reliance on externalizing evil. the whole thing gets gradually taken apart (clash, uprising) and then culminates with the basement reveal and the marley arc (and ymir’s backstory!), and it also cannot really be extricated from the ultimate trajectory of eren and the critique of his logic. it is also y i find it pretty integral for the story to understand that with the end to the "system" that is titans things are not all resolved and modern military weapons can fulfill their part in the equation
winterfell's daughter
(AGOT, Sansa VI)
this part gets me 💔 even after watching her father’s head get cut off, sansa is still hurt by this final betrayal from an adult who she trusted and one of the few people who was “kind” to her after ned’s arrest. nope turns out there are more ways to hurt her! my baby.

Jim Caviezel as the Count of Monte Cristo in The Count of Monte Cristo (dir. Kevin Reynolds)
The Ghassan Abu Sittah Children’s Fund is based in the Blue Building, a medical center across from the American University of Beirut, in the
ID:
While I was in Beirut another doctor told me the story of a child from Gaza, who, after coming to Lebanon, learned that a man had died a natural death. This child did not understand. He did not know that death could come this way. It had to be explained to him, that people die of old age. The only cause of death the child knew was Israel. And he knew it well.
a character being a perpetrator does not negate their victimhood and neither does their victimhood negate being a perpetrator. u can accept and reckon w both dimensions in ur analysis
there is nothing morally purifying about suffering or victimhood, it is not something that inculcates “goodness.”
one’s character has no impact on whether they were/are a victim or not, victim status is not something that is only afforded to the palatable.
it also does not = absolution.
ppl cant handle this in cartoons made for teenagers lets not get ahead of ourselves
this is why i find it pretty integral to handle this conscientiously when you depict it. i like when authors write a diverse array of victims that respond to things differently for different reasons. victims are not a monolith
when such characters occupy this role in a narrative it should not be taken as some omni-applicable assertion that “they are a bad person because they are *insert*”, as much as it is a depiction and criticism of the forces that victimized them as well, hence emphatically they dont do what they do and are not what they are in a vacuum
one of the most egregious things about hotd is how this show has NO SENSE OF TIME WHATSOEVER!! rhaenys has ... looked the same since jaehaerys named viserys his heir. the age gap between her and corlys is TWENTY ONE years! but you could never tell that by the looks of the show. corlys should be an eighty yo man next to rhaenys's fifty yet they both look the same. then there's rhaenyra and daemon. it's a vile relationship. what daemon does to rhaenyra is textbook definition of child sexual abuse, she is groomed by him since the age of seven and the reason why she turns to him soon after harwin's death is because she cannot imagine her life without him. yet the show makes you completely forget that. oh and did i mention criston fucking cole? lol unserious as fuck show.
