Shelly smiled and jumped a little in place in her excitement. “He’s talking, Noah! He’s talking!”

Noah was grinning himself—obviously trying to keep his own excitement in at least somewhat—until Shiro looked about the room again, a bit more worriedly, settling on Shelly. “Em-Em—?”

"What is it, sweetie?" Shelly asked, kneeling in front of Shiro and taking one of his tiny hands in hers carefully. She didn’t look away from the child, but asked Noah, "What’s Em-Em? Em-Em… Atem, maybe? Possibly? Plausibly? We say his name a lot in the house."

Shelly smiled brightly and scooped the child up in her arms, giving him a small kiss to his forehead. “He said ‘mama’! Noah, did you hear that?”

Shelly smiled and jumped a little in place in her excitement. “He’s talking, Noah! He’s talking!”

"It’s a journal," Shelly replied, closing it and tossing it over to Noah. "Every little milestone in Shiro’s life so far is in there."

Shelly left the boy in Noah’s arms, quickly running to a dresser drawer and pulling out a journal. She scrambled for a pen and scribbled words down on the page.

"It’s a journal," Shelly replied, closing it and tossing it over to Noah. "Every little milestone in Shiro’s life so far is in there."

Shelly smiled and jumped a little in place in her excitement. "He's talking, Noah! He's talking!"

"It was magic, I suppose," Shelly chuckled, kissing Shiro’s cheek. "He’s absolutely precious."

Shelly left the boy in Noah’s arms, quickly running to a dresser drawer and pulling out a journal. She scrambled for a pen and scribbled words down on the page.

"It's a journal," Shelly replied, closing it and tossing it over to Noah. "Every little milestone in Shiro's life so far is in there."

"It was magic, I suppose," Shelly chuckled, kissing Shiro’s cheek. "He’s absolutely precious."

Shelly left the boy in Noah's arms, quickly running to a dresser drawer and pulling out a journal. She scrambled for a pen and scribbled words down on the page.

"We’ll be fine, I promise," Shelly reassured, looking down to her child with a small smile. "Isn’t that right, Shiro? You’re a strong boy, just like your daddy."

"Alright," Shelly nodded, leaning over a bit to plant a kiss on his cheek before opening the car door. "See you inside, then." With that, she carefully closed the door and made her way inside, Shiro in her arms.

"We'll be fine, I promise," Shelly reassured, looking down to her child with a small smile. "Isn't that right, Shiro? You're a strong boy, just like your daddy."

Shelly glanced back as well, a frown forming on her expression. “…I really hope this doesn’t hit him too hard. To be honest, I’m really glad he can’t remember what happened… I just hope it stays that way…”

"That sounds like a good idea," Shelly nodded. "I can take care of myself while you two are out. If I need any help, I'll ask Vic, Unity, Ahyo, or Jonathan. It'd be good for you two to get out together for a while. Shiro and I will be fine."

Shelly looked down a bit, distracting herself with fidgeting with the hem of Shiro’s blanket. “I wish I could help him more…”

Shelly glanced back as well, a frown forming on her expression. "...I really hope this doesn't hit him too hard. To be honest, I'm really glad he can't remember what happened... I just hope it stays that way..."

Shelly held Shiro carefully in her arm so she could use one hand to gently touch Noah’s shoulder. “He’s fine,” she said quietly. “There’s no need to worry about him.”

The blond gave a quiet sigh himself. “…in any normal situation, I’d completely agree—but seriously! And I thought I was the trouble-magnet, he’s been through so much in just the past few months. You realize that he’s stopped going to his classes?—dropped all of ‘um, just last week.”

“What?” Shelly looked to Noah with wide eyes. “Wh-… Why would he do that? I thought-…”

Shelly looked down a bit, distracting herself with fidgeting with the hem of Shiro's blanket. "I wish I could help him more..."

Noah rolled his eyes at this comment, however shortly after they reached the car. The blond kept taking glances at Atem in the back every time they stopped at a light. At some point, the pharaoh fell asleep in the back, but even then Noah kept taking occasional glances back at the other.

Shelly held Shiro carefully in her arm so she could use one hand to gently touch Noah’s shoulder. “He’s fine,” she said quietly. “There’s no need to worry about him.”
