*They didn’t notice that she was staring at them intently, waddling around her Bellhome for a spot they deemed comfortable to sit in.*

“You know, those feathers of yours don’t seem very cleannnn! And all that flufffff!” Leela shook their head, tutting all the while, “You do need a good shellcuttttt! Or a bath firsttttt!”

*It glared at her with the mention of a bath, and even more so at the mention of a shellcut.* “NO. I SHALT NOT GET EITHER OF THOSE.”

“Oh, come on, they’ll be fineee! While I specialize in shellcuts, I can still give you a nice warm bathhh!Leela reassured them, “Besides, don’t you want to be clean, smooth and shinyyyy?”

*They flared out their wings (the injured one the best they could) to seem bigger and potentially scare her off though they doubt it would work.* “NO. I DOST NOT NEED A BATH OF ALL THINGS. I DOST NOT NEED A CUT EITHER-“

“Are you really sureeeee?” Leela asked, hardly fazed at all.

”Very much so.” *It replied, taking a step back.*

“Really sureeee?” Leela asked again, with extra emphasis, leaning closer.

”I AM SURE.” *It said, taking another step back, keeping it’s wings flared.*

*They thought for a moment, tucking it’s wings at their side.* “I suppose a spot to rest perchance?”

“One spot to rest, coming right uppp!” Leela starts rifling around the seats scattered around the shoppe. She eventually procures a short one, short enough for Vest to climb onto, that came with a padded purple seat covered in tiny chitin flakes.

*Vest waddled up to the seat, staring at the chitin flakes.* “…It ist not clean.” *They commented bluntly.*

“It’s notttt? Sorry about thatttt!” Leela brushed the padding a few times. Only a quarter of the flakes come off.

”…………..” *They deadpanned.* “It ist still not clean..”

“Alright…then what about this oneeee?” Leela procured another seat. This one was taller, with flea fur clinging to one side.

”…. there ist fur..” *They pointed to the fur with their wing.* “Thou’s shop ist not very clean..”

*Vest gives her a very concerned look, taking a few steps back.*

“….i think I wouldst rather sit on the ground, though i appreciate thou’s attempt.” *They waddled over to the corner of the shop, plopping down on the ground.*

“Alrightyyy!” Leela said casually, chucking the seat away. She walks away to the other side of the shoppe.

*Vest settles in their spot on the floor, their wings twitching a little as they tuck their face into their mane. They close their eyes, attempting to fall asleep.*

It was silent and peaceful for a while, save for the occasional clatter of objects in the backroom. And then there seemed to be a presence hovering behind them.

*They did not react for a few moments feeling the presence. They eventually opened one eye, looking behind them.*

Leela was right there, standing very close to them, razor in claw.

*Vest sprung up with a startled squawk, scrambling away and turning around with their wings flared.* “I THOUGHT I HAST TOLD THEE I DOST NOT WANT A SHELLCUT.”

“Oh, right, of courseeee! Got itttt!” Leela said, retreating.

*It sighed, lowering it’s wings. They now knew what Adonis meant when he said that they had to be wary, though they’d have to be more wary than they thought.. They began to look around for a ledge or shelf they could hop up to, hopefully out of reach of Leela’s claws.*

The nearest place they could perch on was the table where the mirrors were. There was also a nearby table of basins, but there was hardly any room to perch due to those basins taking up most of the space.
